As a long time user of QuickTax and later Turbotax, I am very disappointed as to how the software has evolved. It used to be simple and efficient. It has become more complex and unncessarily wastes my time. The easey step is no longer easy because questions you answer at the onset affect what screens and forms you can access later on. Simply going back to add a security box expense took about 20 minutes to find the correct location within the program to add the info. As it turned out, I had to go directly to the forms as I could not find a step in the easy process to complete. In future versions, kindly place a higher emphasis on efficiency.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend. - some little glitchesReviewed by geekmamam - April 29, 2013
Had a difficult time verifying that some data was making it's way into the form. The options assume you will know where to find the data you entered on a T slip. Also, with a couple filing, it would have been good to have a less cumbersome way to find out what was the best way to share income or deductions, Removing from one place and inserting in another got very complicated. Also, when you're doing something new -- like renting out a room -- it would be useful to eliminate that income from the total so you can see what the extra income is costing you in terms of tax. On the other hand, it sure beats doing multiple versions by hand on paper!

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. - Product seems okay but telephone support BITES!Reviewed by Noah - April 26, 2021
I spent nearly an hour trying to find the site that allows you to download product updates but was unsuccessful. When calling telephone support -- and waiting for nearly 40 minutes to talk to someone -- I was told that that option no longer existed. When I asked why, I was simply told that it was their "policy"...what does that even mean?! The call went on long after that but, suffice to say, the outcome didn't get any better. This is what dedicated users of this product can expect...how sad. It would be nice if a company actually gave a crap about their users...i.e. those from whom they continue to generate significant profit$!!!

No, I would not recommend this to a friend. - Death and Taxes ...Reviewed by Smokey - April 25, 2014
I remember the bad ol' days when it took weeks to do the manual paperwork, and I had to 'own' the dining room table to spread my receipts, forms, and Post Office kits ( 1 for each family member ) for this whole time. This is no doubt the best use of home computers in tandem with the Internet, still to this day. The What-If scenarios are near instant, and the wizards create opportunities that never would have been attempted before. The F3 forward navigation method saves me from fumbling about, however I wish it had a reverse navigation feature for ease of moving around the more complex Returns I do. Thanx for the progress we've made together !

I have been using Turbo Tax from the beginning and Quick Tax before the name change. It would be helpful o be able to save the return as I go along....to be safe in case of power failure or if I have to leave the computer in the middle of entering the returns. A "Save" button on the top (beside your Flags, Take Me To and Go to Forms would be very helpful. I'm wondering why this automatically opens in IE...I would prefer not to use it as I think Firefox is safer...is there a way to do this? If this is possible it should be stated on the page that asks whether or not you want to rate, if not there should be a warning that it will open in IE.
