Despite what other reviewers claim, these are very easy to set up. I have bought 4, and it took me around a minute or less to get each one operational. Some of the setup steps may sound trivial, but do them anyway and you'll have an easy time. These plugs have a wattage rating of 1800, so you can use them with a space heater. The software is easy to use, and you can make custom on/off schedules. Firmware updates are frequent, and the developers are extremely responsive. They claim they are looking into IFTTT support, which would dramatically increase the usefulness of these plugs. The plugs themselves feel quite solid, and they fit nicely into a standard wall socket. I would highly recommended these SmartBars, unless you need IFTTT support, then you may have to try a different plug. If you don't know/care what IFTTT is, then you probably should go ahead and buy this product.

  • Tricky to set up, but it works

The setup instructions are less than intuitive, but with a little patience they (I bough 2) seem to work just fine (although that’s only after 2 weeks). I would, however, strongly encourage buyers to do the factory reset (holding the button for 10 seconds or so) as the first step.

new product, rough edges,This device uses the new Homekit software authentication, and I believe the manufacturer still has some bugs to sort out. I spent 3 hours researching and experimenting to try and connect these (including the common suggestions of turning off 5GHz on my router, and mobile data on my phone among many other things) and unfortunately will be returning then since I couldn't get them to work. The manufacturer does not have a support page on their website for this model at the present time, which definitely does not help... For all I know, these may be great devices (there are some positive reviews online),but I will likely never find out.
