  • Versatile baby monitor!

This monitor exceeded my expectations in several ways. Being able to rotate the camera almost 360 degrees and tilt from the monitor or app is awesome. The monitor can connect directly to the camera or through your WiFi which gives flexibility. There's lots of configurations on the parent monitor, and the video and sound are clear. The parent unit also has a colored light on the side to give an indication of how much sound your baby is making. This can be useful if you turn the sound off so your partner can sleep, you still get a visual indication of the sound. Overall a great baby monitor. You get the best of both worlds with a physical monitor as well as an app to monitor the baby from your phone. Though the app isn't as pretty as some of the others (i.e. Nanit) it's fully functional and likely will receive further updates.

  • Updated and Awesome!

This is a great monitor option that doesn’t break the bank! The price point for the quality is very good. As one of those people who needs to research before selecting a product, I’ve compared tons of options and this is a great buy. Sound and video quality is exceptional. The video feed is clear and picks up in movement in the crib instantly. The mic picks up all her little sleep sounds, and feeds them clearly so I know whether it’s one of her usual noises or something I should be checking on. We replaced an older Vtech model with this one and we are so happy with it. I cannot speak for the app, as we just use it within the monitor’s non-wifi range. That range has been more than enough for us but I’m looking forward to trying that function out when our LO is older as I’m never too far away right now. The two-way talk function is clear, and my daughter gets a kick out of it if we use it. My only negative would be if I forget to turn off the display it will pick up on and echo all the noises in the house throughout the day. You don’t realize how much noise travels in the house until you hear it echoing from our bedroom. Not a true fault of the product though!

  • Great Quality video, even in night mode.

I’m really impressed with the video quality of this monitor. Compared to my old monitor, the video is super clear, even in complete darkness. I also like that you can move the monitor side to side and up/down. My son moves a lot so I find this is helpful, also like that it’s very quiet when it moves so it doesn’t wake my son. I’m still getting used to the app, however I find there is a bit of a lag to get the video on my phone compared to the parent unit. This may be the result my internet speed - I’m not too sure. The parent unit is very sleek looking and the volume indicator is helpful when the monitor is on mute. I also like that you can play white noise right from the camera unit. Overall highly recommend.

Great baby monitor. Having our little one on a different floor than us meant we needed a video monitor. Our first purchase was a yi camera which was horrible. This one however, is great!

  • Very Impressed!!!
    Reviewed by  - October 15, 2020

Firstly, I have to say I am not a very "techy" person but I have to say the set up with this baby camera was extremely easy! I am a first time mom and I wanted to get a camera that was good quality that I could keep a close eye on my baby. Prior to getting the vtech baby camera I was using the Kodak C225 which in comparison the quality of the video wasn't that great (it was choppy and grainy) compared to the vtech. The monitor for the kodak was smaller (2.8") and I was having issues charging it due to the charging cable not fully charging the monitor unit (the monitor unit was just built so terrible. What impressed me with the vtech! 1) Quality of the video was really great. I could see all the details in the room and with my baby and controlling the direction of the camera was very responsive (almost immediate) and there was no lag time with this which was great! (with the Kodak it lagged and would take several seconds for the camera to move. Sometimes the kodak unit would just freeze and i would have to reboot it which was very annoying) 2) Set up was very simple with the "quick start guide". I usually dont like to read long manuals and often just want to get to the point of using the camera. I would say it took me about 15 minutes to set it up including pairing with my cellphone ( so i can watch him through the app if i am not at home) and also pairing the device to my wifi in my home. The fact this was very easy set up and it didnt take too long. I actually set this up while my baby was sleeping and used it immediately. 3) Customization. In the menu you can customize if you want the monitor to "dim" or just keep it on constantly. Also even change if you want the LED indicator light to be on or not). There are more features but i have just been using these ones. There is even an option for the unit to play music to the baby ( i havent tried this since i have a sound machine already for my baby but if you dont have a sound machine this would be an added bonus!) 4) monitor screen size. With the kodak I would say the monitor screen was 2.8" which it quite tiny compared to the 5". With the bigger monitor you can see more. 5) For the charging cables I do like the small details it had which involves velco ties to help keep the cables tidy ( small detail but I enjoyed that haha) 6) physical quality of the monitor unit and camera. I have to say that it is extremely sturdy and well built. With the Kodak it felt a little cheap and the wifi connection wasnt that great. With the Kodak it would lose wifi connection and I would have to keep resetting the unit ( this is with me sitting in my living room and my baby sleeping upstairs, i also pay for the high speed internet so i know it was issues with the kodak monitor and not my internet connection) 7) Wifi connection is good, however there were time the monitor unit couldnt "find" the camera even thought it was connected already. It needed to find the camera connection again but it would automatically do this and i didn't have to reset the unit so just be mindful if you are looking into the vtech baby monitor (but i think all baby monitors do this to some extent) Impressions: As a first time mom I would recommend to anyone who wants a good quality camera with easy set up!
