- Setup easy- May 17, 2020
I have had the mini smart plugs for years and have always worked great. I got three of the light switches to add to my system. The lightswitches have been very frustrating. They installed easily enough and hooked up without difficulty. But every couple of days they will become unavailable in the app. Sometimes they show up on my wife phone but not mine sometimes vise versa. Frequently will not work with google. When the switches become unavailable Ill reset them and re pair them with the wifi and app and again they work for a few days before becoming unavailable again. Overall just very frustrating to work with. Been a bit of a dissapointment.No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I just put in (3) light switches in the garage. The worse place in the house where everyone forgets to turn the outside lights on/off. Now they are on a schedule and the internal and spotlights are accessible from anywhere. The only reason I did not give 5-stars is the documentation and setup is a little kludgey. HomeKit didn't see the switch and the links in the app that go to the Belkin website go no where. Being technical, I figured it all out. Plus the three switches I replaced were wired in series, once I figures out Line vs. Load everything fell into place. I will be adding more throughout the house, may even put in a separate wifi network just for the automation stuff.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- Inconsistent connectivity- February 9, 2020
I've owned several switches from Wemo and the only consistency was the inconsistent connectivity... I should preface that network connectivity was not the issue as literally EVERY OTHER DEVICE WORKED - but the Switches would often show as unavailable. The app installed on my model year mobile is slow to load and when there a firmware update the process takes no less than 40 minutes, where other devices take seconds... In fact I have 1 device still updating, and it's been going on for 8months... yes, 8 MONTHS. Wemo Support (or lack there of) is quick to pin problems on anything else, even when doing so carries no logic, I was once told to remove the switch and install it next to my wireless router...What? Considering theses devices carry a premium price tag, my advice, go for a less expensive alternative
