Take a look back with the iPhone 11 Pro Max

Pro to the Max

The iPhone 11 Pro Max remains the biggest iPhone of them all, sporting a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display that can handle itself in varying conditions. It’s capable of hitting up to 800 nits brightness in direct sunlight, and 1200 nits when viewing extreme dynamic range content like HDR photos and HDR10 movies. Durability gets an upgrade with precision-milled glass and a dual-ion exchange process that makes this the toughest iPhone screen yet.

The new A13 Bionic processor delivers robust performance when paired with the third-generation Neural Engine and GPU. Machine learning helps boost the new camera system and other features when called upon, working in the background to maintain fast processing power for a seamless experience.

Those new components run more efficiently to improve battery life, keeping the phone on for up to five hours more per charge than the iPhone XS Max. A faster 18W charger comes included in the box, so when you plug in, you can charge up to 50 per cent in only 30 minutes. The iPhone 11 Pro Max also supports wireless charging, and is compatible with all Qi-enabled charging pads and docks.

Ready to serve

The iPhone 11 Pro Max doesn’t only come with a more durable screen, it also offers more resistance to splashes, water and dust. The IP68 rating means it can withstand being underwater down to 2 metres for up to 30 minutes.

Apple’s new Ultra Wideband (U1) chip makes the iPhone 11 Pro Max spatially-aware through new technology that recognizes other U1-equipped Apple devices running iOS 13. When you point it at another compatible device, it will let you use AirDrop to share files or photos quickly without any fuss.

Playing games gets another boost with the faster CPU and GPU, maintaining smooth gameplay throughout. Downloaded games from the App Store or a library of titles streaming on Apple Arcade will run well when the phone’s power goes to work in keeping the games going. The improved speed extends to other features, like Face ID, which is faster than ever before at getting past the lock screen.

Choose from a set of professional-looking colours that will look great in your hand, be it space grey, silver, gold or the new midnight green.

Taking better photos with the iPhone 11 Pro Max

The iPhone 11 Pro Max includes Apple’s first ever triple camera system, which can now shoot from further away without moving a step back. The new 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens can capture up to four times more scene compared to the standard 12-megapixel wide-angle lens. Its 120-degree field of view is always available to see what’s happening beyond the standard frame, where a simple tap snaps a photo from the ultra-wide perspective.

The 12-megapixel Telephoto lens zooms in for a closer look at your subject without stepping forward. Portrait mode now blurs the background for more than just people when you engage it to take photos of pets or objects.

Night mode is also new and uses the phone’s processing power and machine learning to automatically capture more light and detail in low-light photos. Smart HDR recognizes people in the frame and does more to improve highlights and shadows for natural-looking tones.

Shooting more video with the iPhone 11 Pro Max

The iPhone 11 Pro leverages the A13 Bionic processing power to record video in 4K resolution at 60fps, with more dynamic range and cinematic-style stabilization. The ultra-wide lens plays its own role, offering extra space to crop later on when you want to key in on the action onscreen.

QuickTake is a new feature where you can start a video without having to switch modes by just holding your finger on the shutter button. Staying in focus when tracking a moving person or object is more precise to make it easier to follow along without having to refocus.

The new 12-megapixel TrueDepth camera captures slow-motion selfie videos at 120fps or 4K clips at 60 fps. All-new Slofies create a dramatic scene when shooting selfie videos in slow-motion. Rotate the iPhone 11 Pro Max to landscape mode for selfie photos and the camera automatically zooms out to get more into the frame.
