A good place to get started

Sporting a different look

The Fitbit Inspire 3 is an entry-level fitness tracker that comes with a svelte design and smaller footprint that makes it much easier to integrate into both your lifestyle and wardrobe. It has been redesigned to look the part, taking elements of the Fitbit Luxe and previous Inspire activity trackers to develop into a combination of the two.

It is possible to swap out the strap and attach another one with a different colour or material to match your purpose or occasion. It’s also possible to detach the straps and use this wearable on its own through a clip on the back (sold separately). Attach it to your clothes and it can still track activity for you if you need to keep your wrist free. It’s not clear how much tracking differs when the Inspire 3 isn’t making contact with skin.

No matter how you look at the screen, it now comes with colour, courtesy of the AMOLED display that Fitbit used in its Charge 5 tracker. This means Fitbit’s most affordable tracker, the Inspire 3, has colour for the first time.

Tracking activity

The Inspire 3 wasn’t built to have all the trappings of its larger smartwatch siblings. While it does feature a heart rate monitor to watch for changes in your resting heart rate, it does not have ECG (electrocardiogram) or EDA (electrodermal activity) sensors, nor is there built-in GPS.* Other basic activity tracking is always available with a pedometer and swim tracker for example.

One new addition is an SpO2 sensor to track blood oxygen anytime you like.* Beyond that, it will record all your Active Zone Minutes, Fitbit’s graduated systematic method of tracking activity based on when you’re in fat burn, cardio, or peak zones. That way, you will know how much you’re pushing yourself.

You do get a Daily Readiness Score in the Fitbit app based on data collected from the Inspire 3, letting you know whether you are ready for a tougher workout, or if you need to take it easy. This feature falls under Fitbit Premium, which requires a subscription, though Fitbit includes a 6-month trial when purchasing the tracker.

The Fitbit Inspire 3 comes with a free 6-month trial for Fitbit Premium to new users. With Premium, you gain access to an array of extra video content, like workout routines, guided programs, and meditation practices.**

*Only available in select countries. Not intended for medical purposes or to diagnose or treat any medical condition. This feature is only intended to provide information to assist you with managing your well-being.

** Premium content recommendations are not available in all locales and may be in English only.

Staying in touch

Wearing the Inspire 3 also means integrating with some of your phone’s other features, like calls and texts. Take a call from the screen before pulling out your phone, and see what messages come in. Other notifications will also pop up, and you can decide which apps you want to push through from the Fitbit app.

The app also lets you switch the clock faces to get the look you want. It’s also possible to add certain tracking features that aren’t available by default, like water intake and menstrual health tracking, among others.
