Good wireless gaming headset.
- 2 avril 2022[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a good headset for gaming. When I use it for long gaming sessions and for school work it’s comfortable and feels good on my head. The wireless is good, although I wish it had Bluetooth. This headset is perfect other than using micro usb :/. Overall, this headset is a good overall wireless gaming headset :). Oh also I added the mic foam from my old headset it does not come with the foam

5 star headset all day at the $100 price point.
- 9 août 2021[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This headset is pretty great. If you have a lot of money then no big deal you will get a great headset for a terrible price. This headset is about $200 too much. If you want a headset that is better all around the turtle beach elite pro2 (it’s not wireless but one small wire you don’t even notice it) even the non super amp version for $130 is amazing sound quality and built with more premium materials. It’s also very confusing to get started using there is a lot of software and buttons. The firmware needs updated immediately as well. not a bad headset though. If this was $99 I would give it 5 stars because for being wireless and decent quality as well as the base this is actually why I bought it because the ease of just docking it and charging it. Pros: -Sounds good (not as great as I thought it would though for the price) -Charging dock/base is convenient -Comfortable -Mic sounds decent Cons: -Overpriced for the materials you get -Ear-cuffs aren’t bad but they feel cheap and after about 7 hrs my ears were starting to get sore. -Have to update firmware immediately through Command Center (their software) sometimes the 2019 app won’t work and you have to download the 2015 version. Program and update it first before using the app and updating again (very inconvenient for $300 shouldn’t have to do anything) -sound quality is good but average not one special thing about it. Conclusion: if you buy this you aren’t making a mistake it’s a good headset. For the money I would not recommend it and advise looking into other options Corsair void is $75 I think and this is on par with that. Unfortunately since they are a sponsor in MLG kids think it’s the best thing you can buy but it’s really not. Solid 3 star headset by me.

Best Gaming headset I’ve used on the Xbox One X
- 14 août 2019[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve used all sorts of headsets for the Xbox over the years and I thought I was sold on a different brand until I tried these A50s. I suffer from a high-end hearing loss so where most standard gaming headphones would sound great to most people, I end up missing a lot of nuances. These headphones get the job done! The ASTRO A50 Wireless Headphones are provide absolute immersion into your gaming experience. The bundle I have comes with a base station for charging and wireless transmission from your gaming system to your headphones. The headphones provide Dolby Headphone Surround Sound. They are engineered with spatial placement for a three-dimensional audio experience. They are fully wireless and have a 15+ hour battery life. The A50 will automatically shutoff when inactive and power on when it detects motion (i.e. if you pick them up and place them on your head). The microphone is a precision mic. Flexible and durable it offers clear, low noise communication and is optimized for gaming on the major gaming platforms (Xbox One, Playstation 4, PC and Mac). The mic’s boom arm operates the mute/unmute function. A simple flip upward mutes the mic and when you pull it down, it unmutes. In addition to the simple mic operation, you have the ability to adjust the ratio of game audio to voice chat. There is an Astro Command Center that is available for download for free that allows you to customize mic levels, EQ settings, and even share audio settings with other gamers. Getting started with the A50s wasn’t too difficult. In order to update the firmware you will need to download the Astro app — Astro Command Center. To connect to the software, you will need to plug your headphones in using a USB cable. You will need to make sure the base station is switched to “PC Mode” and then click the “ok” button on the prompt that states “A firmware update is required”. Once the update has finished you switch the base station back to “Xbox” and plug it back into the gaming system. With the Astro Command Center you also have the option to change settings for the devices. I connected them to my Xbox One X to start my first gaming experience with them. The first game I played with the A50s was Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. I was just blown away. The sound quality was wonderful and for someone who has normal hearing, these are probably such a game changer that it’s almost like cheating when playing against others. For me, I am hearing other players footsteps and gunfire from the direction it’s coming from. This is something I’m not used to being able to hear so it was like a wake-up call for me. The ASTRO A50’s are insanely good. So how about comfort? When I play I play for hours at a time, I’m not getting any headaches or sore ears. The ear cushions are super soft to the touch and they connect by magnets to the headset so they can be replaced super easily if they wear out or get damaged. These have been the best gaming headset I think I have ever owned. I don’t think I have ever been this happy with any other headphones…ever. I have some wonderful ANC headphones I love for music but even as great as they are, I have never been as happy to use them as I am the A50s. The A50s have honestly been a game changer for me. Are these worth buying? Absolutely. ASTRO has made incredible gaming headphones that are built well, feel great, and most importantly sound amazing!

Astro A50
- 3 décembre 2023[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Astro has always been a great headset. The A50 has a great sound, comfortable removable magnetic Ear pads, EQ on demand, DOLBY sound and MIX AMP built into the headset so you can pick between Chat and game volumes.

Decent while they worked
- 26 mars 2020[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got em. They worked for a few months sent them back for repair. They sent them back and they worked a couple of weeks. Now, I hear the sound from the Xbox one, like a blip, when you turn them on and then nothing. I can hear my microphone chatter in my ear and nothing else. I adjust the volume and it does nothing. I reset everything and nothing changes. What a waste of money to buy and then the time and gas to ship and troubleshoot the product. I’m going back to the Plantronics Rig I was replacing. It was ok as well and had a huge battery life. Plus, I could replace it twice over for what I paid for these. This is a purchase I do regret at this point.

Awesome headset, lacks some competitive features
- 13 octobre 2019[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just bought a pair of A50s and I'm very impressed. They sound great, especially in first person shooters where localizing a sound is very important. The microphone is receptive and the headphones are very sturdy. The best thing about this headset is that you don't need a chat puck or a 3.5mm connection of any kind from the controller to headset. I absolutely love love love that! Few headsets actually do that. The volume adjustment dial is pretty addicting to fidget with, it's very tactile. Having contact charging is awesome! No more plugging things in unless you have to. The removable earmuffs are a nice touch too: Very magnetic. The metal frame is robust. A few gripes: The headband isn't comfortable, it pulls your hair. The removable pad on the headband is difficult to remove. There is no obvious voice monitoring button to prevent you from shouting. Sadly it also has some lacking features that could be implemented: -The ability to update the headset via the Xbox One, rather than through USB connection to a PC. -A sound mixing app for iOS and Android so people can use Bluetooth. The Turtle Beach PX51 is a good example of the multimedia technology that mobile users strongly desire. -Include the mod kits with the purchase of an A50 series, so that customers feel like they got their money's worth. -a flexible microphone boom with a windsock Like Microsoft uses on their stereo headsets. Tl;Dr it's great but not quite exceptional. Going to do some more "research" :D

Gen 4, more like 3.5
- 3 août 2019[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The new Astro A50 isn’t much different from the 3rd generation, but there are some changes. The audio is clear and refined, they work with Dolby Atmos, I haven’t had any of the disconnect issues I had with Gen 3 and the base station is slightly changed for a marginally better charging stand. Upon first use, I was concerned on how low the volume was, even with all the volume settings maxed out. You will find there is a mixer control on the right ear panel that changes volume level between voice and game that makes a difference. However, the real game changer for me was when I used ASTRO Command Center settings. Though the Command Center requires a PC to use it, I feel it is essential to get the best out of these headphones. Through the ASTRO Command Center you can select from the pre-installed equalizer presets, slightly tune them yourself or go into the advanced settings and really fine tune the sound. However, through advanced settings I found that you can really mess up the sound if you don’t know what you’re doing. The best option was when I went to Reddit r/AstroGaming and found the user made presets. Through the subreddit there were a good selection of other presets that put the sound where I was looking for. Once these presets are synced to the device, you can move it back over to the Xbox and enjoy the same sound. You can also use three different presets for your gaming preference which can easily be switched by the press of a button. The selected preset is noted by an audible beep and by a number on the base station. Some other settings in the Command Center include EQ settings, noise gate level and sidetone level for the microphone as well as level settings for the stream port of the base station. The large foam earpads are comfortable for long term use and avoid touching my huge ears. A separate mod kit is available for the synthetic leather and the previous generation is not compatible. The battery lasts about 15 hours for straight play time, but they also have an auto-power off when they are set down to help extend their life during any down time, which isn’t adjustable. There is also a micro-USB port that you can use to directly charge them if you must keep going. The other button on the headset cycles between straight audio and Dolby Audio, however, this is not the same as the Dolby Atmos audio that can be enabled on Xbox and PC. The Dolby button uses Pro-logic that simulates a surround sound where there is not sound. So, in game having this feature enabled can really mess things up because when you are listening for directional sound it might simulate it around you. The best option is to enable Dolby Atmos with the included code and leave the headset in the straight mode, which is noted by a star on the base station. Some minor annoyances I have is the fact that you really must connect this to a computer to make the most of it. Even changing the side tone of the mic could have been built in instead of the app. Also, if you want the latest version of the application, your best bet is to go through the Windows Store and not their own support site. Another thing is the volume knob is continuous, there is no indication of max or min as it just keeps spinning. The Voice/Game setting gives a tone when it reaches one extreme or the other, but not volume. I’m also a little upset that the 3rd generation mod kit won’t fit this generation. The only thing different is the slight variation in shape so they won’t work. Though slightly better, the same issue I had with the 3rd generation was the base station charging, it is still a pain to get right every time. The headphones feel like they lock in from the magnets, but then the base station starts flashing like it is in panic mode. It requires a little shake of the headset to try and get the exact contact so that they properly charge. After a few tries the lights will blink individually showing it’s level and that it is charging. I also feel they should offer more for their asking price. The fact it is cloth earpads and they up charge even more for the leather like material when other cheaper sets come with them by default. There are other wireless headsets that also offer different connectivity, such as Bluetooth and have longer battery life. Even cheap headsets offer an easier switch between Xbox and PC than this one does. Besides the changes mentioned above, I really don’t see a true generation change here. It is more like Generation 3.5 which adds Dolby Atmos support.
