[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First Bother product; so far-so good. Replaced initial Toner Cartridge that came with machine. Easy to install, and I have always used Laser printers instead of "Jet" style. The print quality is very good for what I believe to be an inexpensive printer. My old IBM and Xerox Laser printers were much more expensive and replacement cartridges were also more; three to five hundred dollars. Wish this product was closer to $50.00 instead of $68.00. Like I said, so far-so good. We'll have to see how long and/or how many copies this new cartridge makes; hopefully more than others have experienced.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This cartridge started showing "toner empty" shortly after I put it in ("high yield: what a joke!") Yet it clearly had plenty of ink and printed plenty dark enough; and was long premature to its alleged print capacity. You have to "trick" the printer into continuing to use it by shaking it, opening hatch, and ultimately covering the sensor holes on sides with something black to fool it. It is still acting up every 50 copies or so but so far I continue to be successful in trickery to make it deliver what it promises. Otherwise, when it feels like it, it works just fine!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Since my purchase, I have only had to purchase 3 TN-450 replacement cartridges, and I print an incredible amount of pages every day. I have not been keeping count, but have not had the "drum" light go on for replacement yet. However, I have purchased one so it will not stop "production." The pages are clear, although I admit missing colors on a few of the things I print. When I buy my next printer, I will perhaps upgrade to one with color, but this one is so fast in B&W! I would hope eventually they will make color an option, so for most things you can leave it in B&W mode, then switch on color for the occasional document, as I could choose with an old "all-in-one" when I used the scanner. Otherwise, this is PERFECT!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this for my 86-year-old mother to use, it's simple to set up, and from which to print. I change the toner for her, and that's fairly easy to do as well. We really like the ability to return the empty cartridge to Brother with a free return label. Except for the very occasional letter, the printer is used for free crossword puzzles we find online. This is where the print quality is really lacking, on some pages it is impossible to read the numbers in the grid itself! Plus we only use the 'official' Brother toner, and get a lot fewer pages than advertised. The cartridge is not inexpensive, either. In the end, however, this is much easier for Mom to use than the inkjet I use with my computer. Just be prepared for it to cost a little more than an inkjet to run.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a good basic laser printer for home (my use) or I suppose for office. There are a few negative comments about cartridge life. The cartridge that came with mine started complaining after a couple of weeks that it needed to be replaced. A little research on the Internet revealed that this wasn't (necessarily) true,and that the ink sensor in this machine can give false readings. Search the internet for steps on resetting the toner sensor in the machine (very easy) and you can keep using it for a lot longer.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The life of this toner cartridge needs to be revised. I bought a new laser printer thinking I would save money on ink from my old inkjet printer. I went by the manufactures recommended life expectancy of 1200 copies. That figure was not even close. I even had the printer set up on toner save mode. We bought our printer 2 1/2 months ago and about 2 weeks ago our second toner catridge replacement message came on. That doesn't include the setup cartridge that came with it. Life is good for ink manufactures.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We always get the OEM 450 cartridges for our Brother laser printer. I think this is probably our 5th or 6th. We have had the printer for years. They last a long time. Even when my kids were still in school they would last a good long while. Now that they are grown up and living on their own or at college, I almost wonder if I will even end up changing it again. The great thing about it though is even though it doesn't get used that frequently anymore, whenever it is needed, it just works.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Brother 2280DW printer is good quality and surprisingly reasonably priced. I think Brother price it low and deliberately make it difficult to use non-Brother cartridges - if you do get a generic one, you have to search the internet for the 'reset' code otherwise the printer whines about it (and the code is not in the manual) So when I saw the genuine cartridge in store and on-sale I purchased. It may only have saved a few minutes of hassle but there is a premium on your time.
