Very Quiet Operation
- May 27, 2023[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Seems to work OK with Windows XP, but has a long time to connect and slow processing with Windows10. That may be a Win10 issue. The drive really runs quiet which is a big improvement over the last Buffalo drive I bought. Haven't tried (and won't use) the cloud backup feature as the drive will have company information/designs on it. There's an annoying "trashbox" feature which should be set off by default. These drives are for backup mostly, but each time you copy a latest version of some file to it, the drive doesn't over write the old one, it saves it in the "trashbox". After some time, 1/3 of the drive space is used up.

File transfers are limited to 1 file at a time
- March 6, 2022[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This NAS will not allow you to upload or download more than one file at a time. Apparently you could do it at one point, but the process was supported by a Flash Plug-In. Buffalo has not elected to update their WebAccess program that manages the NAS since Flash was discontinued so users are limited to only 1 file per upload or download. I checked the user forum and with Buffalo's support team and they confirmed my discovery. This is basic functionality and something I most definitely need so back in the box and to Best Buy it goes!

Nice drive
- January 26, 2018[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a Seagate network drive that was dying. I was torn between a WD drive and this as a replacement. After reading the comments about setting up WD drives I went with this. It was easy to set up and has been working fine. Windows had troubles with the Seagate drive when referencing recent files. I've had no troubles with this drive. I set up backups with Carbonite and they've been working fine.

Unreliable, clunky, and not recommended
- June 17, 2020[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Backups to this device failed more often than the succeded. Normally I'd return a device that was a failure, but I can't fully destroy the data on the drive, so it potentially could cost me far more than the purchase price if someone was able to recover data I wrote to it. The software that you get with it is limited and very clumsy to use. I do *NOT* recommend this device.

Nice network drive
- May 22, 2020[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Because Microsoft keeps screwing with windows networking I needed a reliable way to share files with other computers on my network at home and this works just fine. I can access anywhere in my home and also remotely as long as I have WiFi. I have it hooked up as a LAN drive so if a device has access to the LAN it can see the drive. Love it and wish I had done this years ago.

I can see it, but...
- June 17, 2019[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Arrived quickly via mail. Connections were simple enough. Set up via laptop and mobile went awry. I can "see" the unit on my network, but it does not allow read/write to folders. Probably user error, but this could be plug and play for the "simple" tasks, like backup and storage. That's all mostpeople need. No time to find the answers yet, but maybe soon...

Good storage solution for local network
- June 26, 2022[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great storage solution for anyone with a mesh wire router setup with no USB connection. It plugs directly into a port on your router. Easy to setup. Really like the UI software, and the fact that it works flawlessly on my MacBook and Windows laptop. Also like that I can program it to sleep and wake up at certain times to give it time to cool.

Easy set up with secure access
- November 20, 2022[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very easy to set up. Quick access from all computers on my home network. Owned a 1st Gen LinkStation for about 15 years and it is still working. Only upgraded to this unit for its enhanced security (newer SMBv2) which my older LinkStation did not support.

Good drive but slow
- June 25, 2022[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy to set as a network drive, I do not need any cloud access so I have not tried that feature. The reason for 3 stars is that the drive is very slow even though it has a Gig network it still takes a long time to move files between computers and the drive.

Great Product and Works Like It Should
- October 3, 2020[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had never owned a Buffalo product, so I was a little reluctant to try them out. I'm glad I did. This works well and integrated into my network nicely. While the software is a bit clunky, the LinkStation works well once it is set up and accessible.
