This is a great air conditioner, it cools the room quickly and is easy to use. It runs more loudly than the older model but that’s not a big deal. The filter is the only flaw since with this model they placed it at the side of the unit, and it’s the right side that’s the side that’s closer to the wall/window frame so i can’t remove the filter to clean it without taking the air conditioner out of the window. All my other danby air conditioners have the filter pull out from the front, not sure why they would put the filter access in an inaccessible spot like that.

Didn't fit quite like it was supposed to, but turned out I didn't need as much support as I thought. So it got set up pretty easily although I did need to get extra foam tape to block the gaps. The unit worked really well for 9 months and then there was a really loud grindy noise when I turned the fan on. I'm in the process of registering the unit and hoping they exchange it for me. I bought two at the same time and the second one is still working perfectly. If I get support from Danby I'd rate it a 4 or 5. Nice cold air and pretty quiet operation.

The tiny hot little room that served as my bedroom is now my own son's room so it's time we got some air conditioning in there. I have looked around quite a bit and had a had time finding a unit to fit the tiny windows in this room. This A/C unit popped right into place without a problem. I had expected it to be close and thought I would have to remove the inner glass panel and fabricate something out of wood to retain the device but to my amazement it fit right in after angling down while installing. So fully and safely installed to boot! No more extension cords running fans all over the room. Nice little A/C unit - I purposely bought the manual unit - no need to pay for electronics that can fail - give me a couple nice old fashioned dials and we are golden - especially for a kids room. Excellent job Danby! This compact little unit saved the day for me and my kid thinks I am a pro!

Excellent air conditioner, using it for the second year now and it keeps my room nice and cool. Works fine as long as you have a vertical sliding type window (ie. Ignore the other negative review who clearly didn’t do their research). Installation is pretty easy, the only thing you need to screw is the air conditioner frame to your window then use the weather seal to fill any gaps. As long as you use it for the intended room size (small to medium rooms) then you should have no problem staying cool for the summer.

Three or four years ago, purchased two of these and a much larger different brand for our bedrooms. We work shift work and it was a hot summer. These things ran constantly. The more expensive one, so noisy, it was only put on to cool the room and shut off so we cold sleep. Ended up giving it away! These ones, continued running, minimal noise, great cooling for a small/medium room. Three years is pretty much the best you are going to get, after that, just cool air circulation (which is better then nothing). Purchased two more this year and have talked others into this one. Inexpensive, but ideal for the proper room size. Minimal, if any, change to electric bill. Best price was here, after price shopping. Comes with side slides for installing. Everything you need!

We have 5 of these at our place and they do a great job for a simple little machine. The machine's onboard thermostat does a very respectable job maintaining room temperature. 6 on the thermostat will give you a room temp of about 21 C. There is a drain hole in the bottom of the machine so don't obstruct it during the installation. If you want to sit the machine on a platform, put a 2" hole in the platform where the drain is. You will be glad you did.

We use this window in a 120sq/ft space and it does a great job. The digital thermometer in the room registers 18*C when the AC is set to maximum on a regular day. However, it’s 40*C outside today and the AC is keeping the room at 21*C without shutting off. We live in an old farm house that gets very hot so I’m not surprised and wasn’t expecting perfection. My only complaint would be the noise level. There are two fan settings. On the lower fan setting the noise is not an issue and is quieter than your average conversation. It does not bother us or prevent us from sleeping. However, the high fan setting is quite noisy. That being said we run the AC at the lower setting and achieve the results I mentioned earlier. Overall, for the cost and size the AC performs well and cools a room the size it is designed to cool. Our larger (15,000BTU Portable Danby AC) and much more expensive AC in another room is quieter. If noise at high fan speeds is your primary concern you may need to spend a little more to make sure you’re happy with your purchase.

We got this for a smaller room that gets hotter than the other rooms. This thing is actually pretty quiet and starts cooling the room really quick. I'd also like to mention I did grab this while it was on sale so the price for me was worth it. I ordered it evening of June 8th, and it showed up morning of June 10th so delivery was quick. Though luckily we were home because they don't seem to like to drop off packages like the AC if no one answers the door so keep that in mind. Downfall: The instructions say to tip this to empty out the water. Except it doesn't get rid of all the water so we have to tip it frontwards to get rid of access water. I like the unit but I don't know why there's not a drainage hole. That's the only reason I gave it 4 stars.

Had one of these for 4 years now and it is still going strong...great value for the money !
