I am writing this because I was thrilled with it! I bought a cheaper product only to return it first. Then did my research and so happy I did. My videos are better then I expected. I could even freeze frame some frames later and capture amazing photos. Took me awhile to finally record my old tapes. But I'm so happy I did. 5/5

Purchased this at long last to deal with old VHS tapes and various iterations of video 8mm digital tapes. Installed well on my Mac Air and works fine. Haven't explored beyond the "record from VHS" option. Have been able to toss about 6 VHS tapes so far. Prior to purchase, I saw another review complaining about short cables- not sure what that's about, the cables are fine.

This worked great for me! I used it to transfer old home videos (VHS) over to digital using my VCR. I've been putting this off for many years because I thought it would be too complicated to do myself, and paying someone to transfer 20 videos was too expensive. This was very user friendly--almost foolproof--and I am extremely happy with the results. Very happy I made this purchase, and saved hundreds by transferring the videos myself.

I am so happy to have been able to save all my 15-20 year old memories onto my computer! My wedding! My babies first steps! And so much more. :-)))) <3 Wow! What a feeling to know they are safe and I can edit them and watch them so easily now. This product was easy to use and worked almost perfectly (sometimes had to restart). I definitely recommend this!

We were trying to convert some old 8mm home video cassettes and the device allowed us to play them back on my MacBook really well, but when the program tried to record them, there was a huge lag between the sound and the video. We tried many tapes and always had the same result. It might work well if you could use a different program but the device isn’t designed to work in any programs but the one provided, which is very low quality. Very disappointed.

OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 Works great. Super easy to use, quality is pretty good, which is likely why price on the higher end. Video file is MOV, and I used iMovie to convert to MP4.
