What customers are saying

The HP LaserJet Pro M501 is a reliable and high-quality printer with fast printing speeds and compact design. It produces excellent output and is easy to set up and use. However, some users have experienced occasional paper jams, especially with legal-size or label paper. The toner cartridges can also be expensive to replace. Overall, the printer is a good value and well-suited for small to medium-sized office environments.

    Just Another Great LaserJet

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - October 19, 2022

This printer is a replacement for a Laserjet Enterprise M506X. It is practically the same printer, which works for me. So far, the only problem I've had with this printer is that sometimes it takes a very long time to process and print the document, each page taking a lot of processing time. Once it does get going on a print job, it prints much like the old 506, which is good for me in my office setting. All done and said, this is a another great LaserJet from HP. I've tried other brands in the past, but for great, reliable black & white printing there is nothing like a LaserJet for quality, reliable office document printing.

    Workhorse Printer Without WiFi

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - March 2, 2019

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] HP M501. Excellent printer. Low print cost per page The print is very clear. 45 pages per minute. The printer is not nearly as well made as my HP 4050N, which is 15 years old, but it cost less than half as much. I will see now long it lasts. I had a problem getting it to work with my IMAC, which is why I bought it. I cannot get drivers for the 4050 N that work with my configuration. The HP M501 manual says there are no appropriate HP drivers for OS 10.13. That is not true. They are available on the HP web site. Make sure to turn off your IMAC OS10 updates. HP does not yet support the most recent versions.

HP laser printers are very good, mostly

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - December 11, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this as the lower end HP laser did not meet my needs. I've been using it now for a few months and do like it. So much so that I have ordered the tray 3 option; 1100 pages without refilling, or 2 sizes of papers in unit all the time. I have given it 4 stars because it has suddenly began to beep loudly. It should not make any noise, and didn't for over 2 months, but now it does. If HP helps me, finally, with finding and correcting the issue, I will up this to 5 stars. In the future a better panel, easier to navigate, would be good, but this is being used in a home. This is my third, fourth purchased but the one before this was returned, and I can see nothing to change me to a different brand.

    Great business printer

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - August 20, 2018

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a really fast printer for the price and size. All of the other printers that I have that are this fast are quite a bit larger in size. I like the fact that it prints on both side of the page, saving paper for things that are printed just to check something. I've setup 3 of these printers and I was NOT able to set it up using the provided print driver (it would work for a couple of days and then stop working). For all 3, I had to go back and re-setup the printer using the Universal Print Driver (download from HP's web site).

    M501dn Lasterjet Pro

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - November 19, 2019

I really like this printer; I had an older HP printer that I was reluctant to give up but it finally broke down. I called HP, told them what model I had and asked for a similar printer. The salesman told me the comparable printer and in 10 minutes the deal was done. The printer arrived about a week later. It was easy to hook up to my network system and I was surprised how much better this printer was than my old HP. It prints really fast with great quality. I should not have waited as long as I did to replace my old HP.

    Slow Printing

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - March 16, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's a great printer, but it is slower than expected. I was looking for a comparable printer to our old HP 4550 printers. I was told that this printer was basically the new version, but it definitely doesn't print as fast as the 4550, which is what we really were looking for. So a little disappointed.

    Its ok

    Reviewed by - September 6, 2018

I've owned this printer for about a day and its already jammed 3 times. It jams very easily when legal sized paper or label paper is placed in the tray, very irritating. The manual feed grabs the paper too fast and then it jams Other than that its an ok printer.

    Why save ten bucks?

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - December 7, 2018

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I decided to pay the extra ten bucks to get the HP laser, and I have been so happy I have. It is the cadillac of printer brands and is fast, quiet, so easy to set up a baby could do it (or an older person!) I think it will last beyond my years behind a computer.

Excellent printer. Fastest time to first page.

    Reviewed by - May 31, 2017

One of the quickest printers I've ever seen. Not the fastest in pages per minute, but the quickest to spit out the first page. Lovely. Low cost per page, easy maintenance, reliable. Built from thin plastic, that's the only downside.

    Solid printer - exceptional value.

    Reviewed by - June 12, 2017

If you're looking for a solid performing, black and white printer - this is it. It's easy to set up and all of our machines recognized it on the network. We have a mixed environment with PC's and Macs - no issues at all.
