the slightest movement and the 'rugged' completely crashed. LaCie charge me nearly $2k to retrieve my data through a 'sister company' so they didn't have to live up to their false claim of this hard drive being shock resistant or whatever. i use a LOT of storage in my professional career and i will forever avoid this brand.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great hard drive for computer back ups and saving photos. Works well for Macs. Note- if you’re doing a time machine backup and also want a separate backup of just photos- you’ll need another hard drive. Can’t have both time machine and a separate folder for just folders on the same hard drive as they will over write eachother and destroy both files. I now have one 2TB lacie and this 4TB.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] All I can say is that it has been working fine. I use it as a backup drive on an iMac with a small internal SSD and a large external drive. It backs up both. Contrary to what I read on another review, the drive comes with a USB-A cable and a USB-C cable. I use the latter. Of course, I cannot comment on its longevity. I've only had it a couple of weeks.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Avoid this item. The part of the hard drive that connects to the removeable USB-C cable is cheap, so the cable doesn't stay plugged in. As a result, the hard drive will disconnect even if you barely touch it or the cable and, over a long enough period of time, permanently fail. This hard drive model will lose your data. Rugged it ain't.

While time will tell if the HDD will go corrupt, I can say that ease of use, speed and it's small form factor make it an easy recommendation

It’s also very durable which is great for someone who is constantly on the go ( or has kids who like to get into their stuff, like my little minions) highly recommend as a wedding photographer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Been needing a new hard drive for backing up files and videos for a while now. I usually go to my favorites bloggers on YouTube to learn about things like this and they didn’t fail me this time either! I’m not the best at setting up hard drives and other things particular to a computer, but over the last few months I have been forced to as my social media presence has increased. I could take off one star because the box materials, unfortunately, do not contain a whole lot of detail on how to set this drive up and use it. So, I had to resort to YouTube again and got it done. There is a fantastic simplicity to how this product works. It’s convenient, it’s protected by superb orange rubber case, and functions quickly and without flow, depending on your computer. I am a Mac guy and this device was easily set up for me by following the formatting instructions. You can format it for both Mac and PC if you choose to do so. If you need a hard drive but you find this one a little expensive, I still say get it! I think you’ll be glad you did. And don’t be afraid to watch my YouTube friends if you need help setting it up!
