  • Fast, effective, decent price for quality build

So far so good after about a month with my new Eero Pro WiFi. Needed a reliable switch due to the mesh system not having more than one Ethernet connector free on the base unit after the modem was connected. Plugged it in, connected about four other things I wanted hardwired and off WiFi, everything started working perfectly and it’s done so since. I originally tucked it behind my monitor, but I also like how all the blinky lights impress visitors who have no idea what they’re looking at. :-) I’ve had mostly hits and a few misses with Netgear stuff in the past; so far, a month in, this looks like another good hit.

  • Good switch

Netgear makes good quality tech gear and this is no exception. Equipment connected thru my WiFi router to the modem seems faster when connected to this switch to modem. It was very reasonably priced, seems to work well whether surfing the web, or transferring items from computer to computer or printer. Easy plug and play. The engineering seems wrong. The power and data connections should be on the back and the leds should be on the front. I set my switch up sideways with data and power wires curved to the rear. It would be better presentable with wires on the back and leds on the front.

  • A good product, but handle with kid-gloves

I bought one of these in spring of 2021, and it worked perfectly out of the box. However, the environment where I have it is subject to frequent vibration and jarring; and this is where the unit can fail. The thermal paste used to hold the heat-sink to the switching controller chip on the board inside is insufficient in my opinion - Thermaltake brand is what should have been used, and is the only stuff I use when building my PC systems - it's the best there is. Anyway, when the heat-sink became dislodged from the control chip, the chip overheated and failed internally - the switch is now nothing more than a paperweight. If you get this product, ensure that it is never subject to shock or vibration.
