Many customers found the setup to be simple and straightforward. NETGEAR Switch GS305v3 it disappoints!

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - November 10, 2024

I was hoping by purchasing this update version of a switch I already owned it would solve my problem, but it didn't. I have an internet system that uses 5G on the wireless side, and only 2.4Ghz on the wired connected ethernet cable side, after replacing the switch and even updating the ethernet cable, it didn't do what I had hoped. I hoped it would step up the 2.hGhz to the 5G, there is no success. This switch maybe exactly what you are looking for, it's easy to install. While says it support 5G, it doesn't step up the Ethernet cable plugged into the switch and router to 5G. Disappointing, but that's life.

Easy way to expand your wired network.

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - October 13, 2025

Very easy, plug and play installation. I needed to add an additional wired network connection to an adjacent room for a gaming computer. Running a new ethernet cable would require me to climb up into my attic and fish wires through the walls. Installing the Netgear switch allowed me to run a short ethernet cable through the wall without climbing into my attic. I decided to add ethernet jacks for two smart tv's in the same rooms.

Easy to Use, Performance, Quiet, value

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - May 16, 2018

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I relocated the Router/Modem in the house to better benefit from its WiFi capabilities, but still wanted the use of a hardwired network in every room. Plugged the switch into my Router and expanded with an additional four outlets. There's no software or set up to complete. Just plug it in. Everything works fine. I now have all seven rooms wired through my router and switch as well as wireless for the phones and tablets. Wired is faster for online movies and games.

Slow after a few months of light use

    Reviewed by - April 22, 2022

This switch works great, initially. You can plug one end of your RJ45 cable from your modem to any available port. Old versions have a specific port that your LAN connects to. However, the benefits are s short-lived. There are many reports (now) of the same issue where it maxxes out at less than 100 Mbps, not 1000 Mbps (Gigabits) as advertised. Support is quite frustrating to deal with and they require you to pay shipping to them when you do an RMA. It's simply not worth to ship especially given how this seems to be a common problem. Most people don't notice speed differences but myself and my devices noticed immediately when this ethernet "switch" stopped performing to spec. All this leaves me very disappointed. I had not expected performance issues what appeared to be a rock solid device. FWIW, my switch has 5 ports.

    Excellent solution!

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - September 9, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Needed to connect additional devices to the ethernet cable that runs from our router on one end of the house to the living room. Tried hooking up a second wireless router to use its ports, but it seems that wasn't acceptable to certain work-related remote log-in software that one of us uses. So I got this switch and substituted it for the second router, and it works like a charm. Looks good too!

Exactly what I needed for a great price

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - February 10, 2018

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My cable modem had only one Ethernet line available, but I needed at least two to wire two separate computers to the internet. The set up was easy, and I ran speed tests afterwards. My connection speed was not affected even the slightest. This was exactly what I needed to connect my home office to my work servers, so that I could work efficiently while working virtually.

    Excellent gigabit ethernet switch

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - September 29, 2018

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased several of these routers to multiply the number of devices that can connect to a single wall ethernet jack. The switch functions great connecting to the router quickly with the green lights blinking to show activity. The data throughput has been fast with no issues in streaming videos and downloading large files. Overall it's an excellent product!!

    Network Expansion

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - March 21, 2018

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Netgear Switch is a great way to expand your network - especially if you are wanting to add extra computers, backup drives, cloud drives or whatever other equipment you need and all of the ports on your router are full. This will give you 4 extra ports to use at gigabit speeds. I highly recommend it.

    Wired is better

    Reviewed by - June 26, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I highly recommend this if you have a few wired capable devices such as servers, smart TVs, etc. Wired connections are MUCH more reliable that wireless connections and this will help facilitate them if you run out of ports on your modem and/or router. This will last you for years- mine has!
