    Gigabit 8 is great

    Reviewed by - December 5, 2019

When I upgraded my Verizon Fios Internet speed to Gigabit, I was employing a NetGear Fast which, of course, was not designed for Gigabit speed. Once I realized I would benefit from a Gigabit Switch, I decided on another NetGear as the one used has never failed me. Once, I made the change, suddenly the speed was demonstrated with Verizon's Broadband speed test. and my iMac's Down and Up speeds reflected the speed increase and my iOS devices as well. Easy to install, trouble-free. There were a lot of choices for a Gigabit Ethernet switcher, but I stayed with NetGear based on my experience of real time experience with their products.

    Plug and Play?

    Reviewed by - January 15, 2020

Pllug and Play is one thing...Plug and ENJOY is quite another. I receive the Netgear GS308-300 PAS and in under 5 minutes had it up and running. I was able to move the entire home network off of WiFi, increase speed, and utilize the Gigabit service I had upgraded to..but never saw it's full potential. I've used Netgear equipment for many years professionally, yet never considered it for home use. A small investment that is already paying for itself with many more smiles and near zero grimaces as video streaming is now possible. WINNER!

    Excellent for home office

    Reviewed by - May 27, 2020

For security reasons I am not allowed to use wireless equipment at my home office. When I brought in a second computer to do some additional work, I discovered that my router didn't have enough ports, so I ordered the Netgear 8-port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch (GS308v3). It's compact, inexpensive, easy to install, easy to set up and very powerful. I gives me the ability to wire all the devices I need to have on the same network, and the peace of mind to know it's going to be there for me.

    WYISWYG

Reliable. Works as expected. The only downside was the startup instructions, which insisted that you download their Insight app to manage their equipment. Why would you ask to download an app to manage equipment when it doesn't work on it? The answer is probably is it is a) easier than figuring out which equipment can use it, b) to improve download numbers or c) data miner. I'd like to believe that is the first two, but this is 2020 so the last one would definitely be on point.

    Moore's Law in Action

What's not to like about this 8-port switch, each port capable of 1 Gb/s, especially at its attractive price point? Zero configuration: any port any device, upstream device on any port, no worry about cross-over cables, just plug and play. Too, MS Windows networking capabilities have evolved to the point where your PC will find and use a printer located on this switch with no user involvement. Ditto Apple iOS, at least for my iPad (I do not use a MAC computer). Highly recommended.

    7 port ethernet hub

    Reviewed by - November 6, 2020

Can wall mount of just sit on a stand. 7 ports available for devices since one port will need to connect to modem. Does not matter what port modem is plugged in to. Tired of buffering or dropping of wifi. Want a STRONG fast 100 percent connection no slow or weak signal go back to ethernet. This will replace a router for connecting directly to a device. This does not have a wifi signal so there are no password required just connect and sign in on your device.

We recently rewired our home for ethernet ports throughout the house. Having used Netgear products in the past we wanted to continue with a brand we trust and that is dependable. Just like every other Netgear product we owned it was simple to use and works wonderfully. It’s awesome to have wired access to all of our computers, video server, TVs, and gaming consoles. It really has improved our experience in that we aren’t always buffering from wireless access!!

Simple, straight forward and just works

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - February 12, 2024

pretty simple and straightforward. Just works right out of the box. I tried to figure out which port was the “in” to bring a connection from my router, but realized it doesn’t matter. I guess I was overthinking it, but it would have been great if the instructions said something about it not mattering so I could have saved the minute I spent turning the unit, looking for a specifically-labeled Ethernet port, and wondering if it would work as I had done it.
