Almost a 5 Star Beard trimmer
- October 17, 2017[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This beard trimmer works extremely well, I just feel it is a bulky, hard to reach right under the nose and a little hard to clean. For the past 10yrs I had been buying a cheaper model Norelco for $20 and all of the issues i have with this model didn’t exist. I would have purchased the same cheaper model, but it’s no longer in production. Overall I am satisfied with this beard trimmer and the more I use it, the more I am getting used to the bulkiness.

Shaggy to Groomed
- February 29, 2016I received this product to review. Regardless, I was very happy with the razor’s performance and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a midrange electric razor. I’m new to having a beard and thus far have been using a cheaper model which needs to be plugged in to use. It seems petty, but the simple requirement of having to take the time to attach the razor to the outlet before a shave resulted in spending most of my time with an unkempt face. Now that I’ve been using the Phillips 5100, I just charge it up and keep it next to my sink. After brushing my teeth I grab the razor and run it over my face for 10 seconds. As a result I’ve gone from shaggy to groomed. So far I’ve found that the unit holds its charge very well. I charged it once upon opening it up and 10 days later it hasn’t begun to fade. Adding to its ease of use are the simple clipper attachments. I appreciate that they have a nice groove to slide into so that there’s no doubt about attaching them correctly, and once one it’s easy to adjust the desired shave length with a fun dial. There is a manual but I didn’t need it, just slapped on the clippers, fiddled with the dial and started shaving. Results were clean and quick. SUMMARY: - Great for a midrange. I’d give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Best trimmer I've had!
- February 13, 2016I received this trimmer as a sample for agreeing to use it and provide an honest, unbiased opinion. I have used a lot of different trimmers in my adult life, and so far this is in the top 2. My first thought when I received it is that I wished it had a nice base to set it in to charge. After thinking about it, in reality I've had plenty of trimmers that had the base that I rarely ever used after the first charge. I plugged it in and charged it fully over night, but it did have a decent charge when I received it. The first use I was pretty impressed with the first of 3 attachments meant for beard / goatee trimming. Despite the size of the attachment, it was extremely effective for my beard, including the mustache area under my nose which most trimmers have a hard time reaching to be effective. There are 2 other attachments that are meant for hair trimming which I don't have an immediate need for, but will come in handy. The adjustments wheel for length was able to get down to .4 mm, with .2mm increments up to 7mm. The hair trimmer starts at 6.4 up to 13. In my opinion there was great thought put into the lengths and it works extremely well. Without any attachments, the blades work well for a quick, close trim and I was only pinched on my neck once, compared to every other trimmer I've used which makes it impossible to use without looking like you were attacked. The size is pretty fantastic and it looks and feels very sturdy. I've only been using it for a few days so far, but overall am very impressed and it is of the quality I would expect from the Philips Norelco brand. I would absolutely buy another one, and would also recommend to friends and family.

Good for the buck
- February 22, 2016I received this item in order to test it and compare it to other trimmers I have used in the past. Considering the MSRP, it is a good little item and definitely has more to offer than your run of the mill trimmer. The blades were sharp and the machine itself was simple to use and operate. It was comfortable to use and fit well in my hands. I would say that the biggest downfall of this trimmer is the attachment issue. Basically, the trimmer has so many attachments that it will require some time and trial/error before a user really knows what is best for his face. Overall a good buy but I would recommend a more detailed and advanced trimmer for the really serious manscaper.

A Very Good Trimmer
- June 23, 2017[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I needed to replace my old beard trimmer and the waterproof aspect of this one is what ultimately sold me on it. Clean up is so much easier when you can just run it under the faucet. My only gripe is the length-adjustment: it has a click wheel that you rotate, which makes it easy for bits of hair to get stuck in there. Also you have to turn it all the way down to the lowest level to make sure the length is right every time you swap out the top piece (or take it out to clean). It's not perfect, but it's a solid trimmer with a lot of great features for a good price.

Great cutter with an ingenious design
- May 5, 2017[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Honestly, this is my second Norelco trimmer and it never fails. I purchased my first one about 5 years back and the only reason I upgraded is because I lost my charger lol. I also purchased a new one because they are so modestly priced. The fact that it's water resistant make this even better. I use this to buzz cut my hair and it works great in the shower. The dial system to adjust the length is the best thing about this. It's a sturdy metal knob that adjusts the length of the blade, giving you an even trim with each glide. Will definitely recommend to anyone.

Impressive trimmer
- February 16, 2016I received this razor free in exchange for my honest review of the product. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this razor and at how well it cut. I used it to trim my beard, and the cut was great. It is easy to adjust, which is nice, and it had several length settings that were easy to change out / adjust. I have sensitive skin, but didn’t experience any irritation or bumps when using this product. I would recommend it to anyone with medium to thick hair that is looking for an easy-to-use, easy-to-adjust razor that’s a good value for the money.

The People at Philips are Fantastic!
- January 8, 2020My Philips (Norelco) Beard and Head Trimmer is a great product! The rechargeable battery lasts a very long time. My trimmer one day, all of a sudden would not turn off after I plugged it in to recharge it so I contacted the Philips people and they said to send them the product and that they would send me a new trimmer, just like that! Well I got the new trimmer in about two weeks and I could not be happier with the new trimmer and the way they handled the transaction. I love that they have a "can-do" attitude, Kudos to the Philips team!

Weekly use
- November 7, 2016[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this maybe once a week for my beard and head, but I have only charged it once so far and it seems to be maintaining the power level. I've only used about a month and a half so far but I do like how close it shaves my head. My wife like a little stubble, but it's still pretty close. it recommends not charging it frequently as it will shorten the life of the battery, so I guess I won't charge it until I notice a change in power. Like the different trimmer accessories so I can trim the beard to the shortness I want.

Great trimmer that does what its made to do
- February 23, 2016So I`ll start off by saying that I did indeed receive this as a free sample in exchange for a review on Phillips.com and I must say that this beard and head trimmer is actually really good. I did not expect such from a free sample and figured to be mediocre but was I wrong. This model trimmed precisely without any tugs and rough areas. The measurements gave it a great touch and the battery both charges quick and lasts for a good amount of time. However there is one thing that I would like to see improved and thats maybe they can throw in a few more attachments. Maybe they can offer a limited edition package which includes more attachments with the trimmer. Overall though I really liked it and would continue using this rather than my old Phillips trimmer from years ago.
