[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was not sure I would like this system, but it is great! Got 8-piece kit to start with. Before installing watched a couple of videos, just to know what to expect. There is a guy out there, claiming "installing in 15 minutes" - nonsense. Most people will need a couple of hours (I needed over three) for the first time installation. Sure, second time around (for a friend or another property) might take less. In addition to what is in the kit box, you will need a drill (the very basic one will do), Phillips screwdriver, step-stool or ladder (motion detector is recommended to be 7.5 feet above the floor) and 2 additional screws if you decide to hang base unit on the wall. For me, most of the time was spent deciding as to how position the contact sensors on the doors and windows. Our house is almost 150 years old with many original features. As a result, all doors/windows are different. I was afraid that contact sensors might not work at all (and was really bummed out), but they DO work. The biggest help was Ring's official site, where they have a lot of photos of customers' installations. It really helped to figure out possible positioning. The rest was very straightforward. At one point had to call their customer service (my fault) and they were wonderful, friendly and helpful. So, if you feel stuck, do not hesitate to ask for their help. The app is well designed and very helpful, really liked it. We are still testing various things, but it all seems great. Like that even when the system is not armed, there is a chime every time a door/window is opened. It is not loud, but clearly audible and is great help if there pets or family members who might open a door without need. Good additional safety feature. The light on the base unit is quite bright, so I suggest you put it where it will not interfere with sleep. Or, even better, where you might want a nightlight (it has to be plugged in at all times). Really think trough where you want your sensors. After the protective film is removed, you may be able to move them once, while adhesive is not set, but I think not more. So figure it out beforehand. The only thing I do not like is the color, stark white. They look fine and are not awfully obtrusive, but I do wish they were offered in dark and light beige, to blend in better. I will attach several photos, maybe they will help someone with unusual doorways. ALL positions on the pictures attached do work (we tested). Great technology, like it a lot. Now we are thinking about adding more items (additional contact sensors, cameras for outdoors and so on). Really wonderful product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a really great system, It includes a Base, keypad, 1 motion sensor, and extender and 4 contact sensors. It was easy to set up took about an hour. I installed the app , it walked me through each setup also had helpful videos for the setup. The set up manual is also easy to follow the directions are very clear. It has 3 options unarmed ,home, and away. When on unarmed if something is opened you will hear a little beep , if it is armed and something is opened you hear a loud alarm. . It works with Alexa so can be voice activated. It can also be managed with the app of the keypad. You can professional monitor or self monitor. I choose self monitor for now. The sensors can be placed on a window or door at different angles as long as the sensors line up. Overall this is a really good system, very pleased. I would recommend.

This product truly brings out the true potential in those smart home components and has simplified the process of Disarming and Arming my home without the need for an app. The system installed easily, it looks clean and timeless makes a pleasant sound when the doors open! I’ve accidentally tripped the alarm a few times and you can really hear it. Works with Alexa devices for added convenience! I’m truly glad I purchased this, absolutely one of my best Smart Home purchases yet! I strongly recommend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This 'Ring' Alarm Kit is really great and I needed it due to my recent move to a new house. This is generation 2 and there is a lot in this kit. It's simple to set up and everything is included. I can set the alarm and monitor my house. Plus, I get real time notifications too. In addition, it does work with Alexa. This is the complete set so you get everything to protect your home.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My family loves having this ring alarm set. It gives us peace of mind while we are away and sleeping. We know that if someone were to break into our house, the alarm would instantly notify us. This set includes a base station, a keypad, four contact sensors, a motion detector, and a range extender. The contact sensors work on both doors and windows. The range extender does a good job. We have one of our contact sensors on our basement door and our detached garage building's door. Without the range extender, both of these doors were too far away from the base, but with the range extender, it reaches them without a problem. The motion detector is very nice to have. We ended up putting it outside by our front door (where it is protected from the elements). My four-year-old snuck outside one day. I was very grateful that the motion detector alerted me. The alerts can go through your phone and the base station. The app has so many different settings. My husband installed everything, but he didn't have any issues. The instructions were clear and easy. The base was the most "difficult" thing to install, but even that wasn't hard.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I would advise anyone who buys the Ring Alarm system to thoroughly read the instruction manual, lay out the products and accessories before starting. Installation will go smoother if you are familiar with the manual, products and accessories. The instruction manual is very helpful and it guides installation step by step from beginning to end. The instruction manual during set up mentions the Base Station will need to update the software when it connects to the internet. I would suggest connecting to the internet via an Ethernet cable to the modem instead of using WI-FI. This will speed up the software update to the base unit. Once the Base Station has been set up the rest of the installation will go very quickly. The white contact sensors and white motion detector is a breeze to install and are inconspicuous. When each sensor is installed verification is performed to ensure the sensor is working. The Ring Alert product has great features such as being able to purchase additional products, like contact sensors. The Base Unit and Keypad contain audible settings for volume of chimes/tones. Different audible chimes/tones can be selected for each door entrance into the home. Even if you choose not to have your home monitored by a third party, the system is still functional for home monitoring. Home monitoring without a third party will still allow alerts to be sent to your cell phone. I would recommend this product to anyone.
