Received and opened my package 20 minutes ago to find the Samsung water filter box inside was already opened on one end and poorly taped on the other end. One of the filters inside was plastic wrapped, the other wasn’t wrapped at all. For the money I spent, I foolishly expected something new. Now I’m looking at one opened filter I can’t trust and one wrapped in plastic that makes me question its contents. I received what looks like a re-packaged returned item.

The filter is great. The devil's packaging is atrocious. I needed a hacksaw and giant amount of internal rage to get the filter out of the package. And I'm lucky it didn't cut me to shreds in the process. Do better. O/5 for the packaging.

I have a model RFG298HDRS Samsung refrigerator built in 2012. The fridge has been great and still works except for one small issue: new HAF-CIN water filters do not work. In fact, Samsung doesn't even list this model on the filter finder page, almost as if they didn't expect their product to last more than 10 years. I've been purchasing genuine Samsung water filters for the life of the fridge, and the last ones I bought won't work at all. The water can barely make it through the filter due to a design change. When I remove the filter, the dispenser works fine. Samsung seems to have value engineered themselves right out of a repeat customer when the time comes when I really need to replace this refrigerator.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I debated on whether to get a Samsung filter or some aftermarket but after hearing some people say that it took more than 4 or 5 gallons on an aftermarket filter to get clear water, I decided to go with the Samsung. About 4 gallons is recommended after installation and prior to drinking. Installation was quick and maybe just a small dribble of water, if any. Make sure to match the exact filter with you refrigerator so that you have an exact fit; not all Samsung filters and refrigerators are interchangeable. The price is a bit high but I would recommend an OEM filter as apposed to an aftermarket based on what I have heard and my experience.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I agree with other reviewers: What can you say about a water filter... it either works or it doesn't. Mine did. But then, I already have great-tasting water without it. The filter can't do anything to affect the water we drink from the tap or use to cook with. However, I read somewhere that the filter aids in keeping the water system in the fridge running smoothly, so I buy it. No complaints except for the exorbitant price, which is another way for Samsung and other appliance makers to keep making money from an already paid-for purchase. I recommend this product to a friend only because refrigerator manufacturers obligate owners to use them.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I know water filters aren't exactly exciting, but they are important to providing you and your family clean water. There are always less expensive options you can buy, but I'm not one for taking a chance on using anything other than genuine replacement filters for my refrigerator. It can't be easier to replace the filter. Simply unscrew the filter you have, remove it, then insert and tighten the new filter. It is recommended you flow a few quarts of water through after you've replaced the filter to get any air out from the replacement process. Then you're good to go till your notified it's time for a new replacement.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Legitimate Samsung filters, so there is no reason they should not be good. Installation is somewhat annoying, took me about 15 minutes from start to finish. I installed the new filter after shutting the water off and draining the water lines. With the water supply off and the lines drained the installing the new filter was easy. It just popped right in and locked in place. I turned the water supply back on and emptied out about 3 gallons of water as instructed. That part was very boring, I just kept filling and dumping jugs. I took off a star because I honestly think they cost excessively much. It is just a water filter!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] At first, it puzzled me as the one I was replacing had on one O-ring at the top, while this one had two O-rings at the top. Also, the locking dial was skinnier. I actually went an ask for a return and refund. But after thinking about it for a moment, and comparing the two, I concluded that it ought to fit even with 2 O-rings because the length and shape of the filters were a pretty close to a twin match. So I gave it a try. It slid in easily, and locked down effortlessly, quickly, and securely. I am impressed and very happy, I quickly canceled the return and refund. And apologize for my earlier misjudgment. It's a great product, and it works beautifully. Thank you.
