What customers are saying

The Sennheiser HD 599 headphones offer excellent sound quality with clear highs and lows, and good bass performance for the price range. They are very comfortable to wear for long listening sessions, with soft and plush ear pads. The open-back design provides a spacious, natural sound, though it may result in sound leakage. The build quality is durable, though some found the materials felt a bit cheap. The headphones provide good value, especially when purchased on sale, though the bass response was described as a bit weak by some users, and the long cable can be cumbersome.

    Headphones for mastering

I've been using headphones for mastering for several years. They suit me for their absolutely neutral sound and comfort. I can wear them on my head for several hours a day without any problems.

Finally found the most comfortable headphones

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - January 16, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The audio is excellent. I have been able to hear so much more sounds in music that I have not been able to hear. On top of that, they are the most comfortable headphones I have ever worn. I have always had an issue with long headphone sessions. Headaches would start about an hour into wearing any headphones. With these, I have been wearing them for about 4 hours and I feel like totally fine. The open back nature of these headphones is a plus for me too. I like to hear what's going on around me at home, so if you're the person who needs to hear a knock at your door, or a weird noise in the night, you can easily hear everything around you.

Solid build, but very muddy sound out of the box.

    Reviewed by - July 11, 2025

Solid built quality. Nice to have multiple cables. Very large ear cups, comfortable while wearing glasses for long periods. Fair bit more bass representation compared to competitors in the price range. Frequency response falls apart a bit at low levels. Needed some very serious EQ to get a flat frequency response. It is far too muddy out of the box. I attached the settings I needed to use to get a flat response, though each device will be different and I tend to monitor at very low levels.

    Pro for the price!

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - May 16, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A little wofy or bassy initially to my ears (often the case today) but super comfortable and definitely good enough to use for mixing music professionally which was what I was hoping for. I love them! Mixed latest EP with them, got great reviews!

    Great quality and beautiful

    Reviewed by - January 14, 2026

Bought it around a week ago and it has been great so far. Love the quality and comfort. Although the pads are a little uncomfortable as they irritate my skin after a while and get sweaty. Though this might just be me. Otherwise great product!

    Review after 5 Years

    Reviewed by - February 15, 2026

I have had these headphones for 5 years now and let me just say that they have been the best headphones I could have bought. I have used them for mainly gaming over the last 5 years but have used them for music as well and the audio is nowhere near any other headphones. I'm not exactly someone who pays attention to the audio of headphones but I remember when I first got these headphones, I noticed a very noticeable difference in sound quality. They are very comfortable on the ears and I am now looking into buying replacements for the earpads as they have finally started to show true wear and tear but that's to be expected when used for 5 years continuously. If this pair ever happens to give out, I will gladly but new ones from this company.

    They just don't feel right.

    Reviewed by - June 1, 2025

So this is my first open profile pair of headphones and I mostly use it to play videogames or to listen to music while I'm on my computer, so to begin with, I got these because they were actually recommended for FPS shooters, I play Overwatch and I can notice a difference between my wireless earphones I was using before and these ones, I am now able to hear footsteps much more clearly and even though I wasn't really sure about the open ear sound profile, because it's not very bassy and it can sometimes feel like your sound is just coming out of a pair of speakers, (not really but that's how I'd describe it) I am overall satisfied with the sound while playing games, I can't really say I'm 100% sure I'd recommend these to listen to music, since I miss the immersion you get from closed ears. So that's the positives and maybe neutrals about the sound, but the 2 stars really come from how comfortable they are. Again, after reading a lot of reviews, these were highly recommended as one of the most comfortable headphones, with some people even mentioning that they own more expensive pairs, but they go back to these because sometimes they even "forget that they're wearing them". I must say that was not the case for me at all, the pads are comfortable and the open ear design makes it much more breathable compared to a closed ear design, but after wearing them for not really a long time, maybe more than two hours, my ears begin to feel very sore and uncomfortable. It doesn't matter if I keep readjusting the headband, or if I take a rest and come back, it just gets more and more painful over time. It gets to a point that I just have to take it off because I start getting headaches, and would just go back to using my laptop speakers. I really wanted to like these ones, and even thought about keeping them for a few years, before I start looking for an upgrade, since these are supposed to be just entry-level headphones. It's been a few weeks since I got them and I still wear them almost every day, hoping that they'll eventually break-in and feel more comfortable over time. If I don't feel like they're getting any better in the next few weeks I believe I'll just end up selling them and start looking for a new pair.

Comfort and sound are unbeatable for this price

    Reviewed by - August 5, 2023

I have tested several over-ear headphones in terms of wearing comfort and sound. The HD 569 (which I already had) and the HD 599 were by far the best in this regard. The headphones reproduce any music whether classical, rock or pop with equal transparency and neutrality. The optics and workmanship of the HD 599 are very valuable and reflect the good quality of the headphone. For on-the-go use it might be better if the 1.2m cable comes with a 3.5mm right-angle plug. Definitely five stars!

    Great Mid-level Headphones

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - January 14, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Almost a 5 star rating. Very good sound quality. They are built sturdy. Sound is good with a decent bass and treble. They fit over the ear very well and they do not hurt after wearing them for an extended period of time. The only negative is the cord is a little too long. It gets tangled up on my computer desk. Not sure if it rates taking away 1 star. I have always bought Sennheiser cause to the sound and build quality. These headphones are a very value for the price.

Bought for my son who confirms they are very nice headphones. He's not had the chance to wear them a lot yet but has said they are very comfortable and the sound is really good - listening to one of his favourite songs, he heard notesand tones that he'd not heard through other headphones so is very impressed. Says these are by far the best headphones he's ever had and if you've never had a decent pair, these will "blow you away". I think he likes them.
