It works, but...
- February 4, 2023I had to tinker with this a little bit to get it to work because I am using Windows 10 and I believe the drivers on the cd included are for earlier versions of Windows. This caused me to have to go to this website to download the print server software. My complaint with this product is that the router I use does not acknowledge that it loaned out the dhcp address that the print server has and I can ping for the print server. This could be really difficult to troubleshoot if the dhcp server randomly assigns the dhcp print servers dhcp address to something else. I didnt actually look to see if this was fixed in a firmware version though.

Mostly useless
- March 22, 2018I have found the same problems with the device. Stays online for anywhere from 30 seconds to 10 minutes, and then all network connections stop working. Light still flashes, but has to be rebooted. The device is supposed to make printing easy to use... Having to explain to them that "before you can print you have to restart this device every time" is really unacceptable. I contacted support and their method to get me to test was to "Would it be possible if you can test the PM1115U2 on a test PC and have the print server connected directly to the PC’s Ethernet port without a network" I'm not sure what this would achieve. This is not how computers work. Unless I use a crossover cable; or do some other such messing around, this wouldn't allow me to print

Need to network old USB label printers? Get this!
- November 20, 2024Bought two of these from Amazon. I've been a techie for years and knew how to find the IP and connect to the GUI, but some of the steps for creating a print queue on the PC was new to me. I would normally USB printers on CUPS, but these two label printers would not cooperate. I followed the provided instructions for a pc running Windows 10. I'm on Windows 11, some of our company machines are on 10, but the setup process is the same in 10 & 11. I have not had a single issue with any of the PC's now connected to the two label printers networked for our shipping department. No more copying files between machines to print. Follow the directions. If the one's in the box aren't good enough, the directions on the website are much more detailed, and include pics!

Print Server Installation - Great Product
- September 29, 2021This is my second purchase of the Network LPR Print Server. We've been using the first on our home network for several years without any problems. When I installed the second one on the network I kept getting an error message "Error loading print server driver." After researching the StarTech.com website and several failed attempts to correct the error myself, I called the 800 number for technical support. The technician was very professional and immediately helpful. Within minutes he walked me through the process to remove and reload the printer through the Windows 10 Device Settings. We can now use both printers on our home network from each computer. Thank you StarTech for a great product and very professional and helpful Technical Support. I highly recommend this "little" USB LPR Print Server!

Finally got it to work reliably!!
- August 6, 2021After about a year of on and off tinkering I *finally* believe I've found a way to keep this unit from spontaneously disconnecting. Summary: 1. Update the firmware via the USB server program included with the firmware download. 2. Configure the print server with a static IP followed by restarting the printer server. 3. Follow the manufacturer's instructions regarding setting up your printer. It's been up for days and working perfectly. It was a long and winding road, but it works!!

No Default Gateway Option
- August 25, 2021I cannot believe I'm saying this in 2021. You can only specify the IP and Subnet, the device does not support in anyway a Default Gateway. So if you are planning to use this across multiple networks or like in my case over a VPN. It will NOT work. I confirmed this was not fixed in the latest firmware either. This product should not be purchased by anyone since it does not have proper network configuration and will strand you at some point.

Same Problem as Jacky dropping off the network
- June 19, 2017Bought this and set it up, it works for a few and then drops off of the network .. cannot ping it nor can I browse the server ... tried to set it to a static address and with dhcp and the same thing happens. Only solution is to disconnect the power and reconnect it. I had the same thing happen with two different adapters. had to remove them from the network and find another solution. :(

OK for a while...
- October 10, 2024Installation was quick and easy (with the "wizard"). Unfortunately, the device is no longer functional since the release of Windows 24H2. The PC reports the printer is present, but print jobs appear to get lost in the queue. Old tech is old tech...

Constantly Drops off LAN
- May 1, 2018I bought this product to enable the office to share a USB Dymo label printer. I constantly have to reboot it for it to work even though I have bind MAC-IP on the router. Please update the firmware so this stop causing us issues. Thank you
