    Huge disappointment

    Reviewed by - February 15, 2010

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These were a huge disappointment. I didn't think I could go wrong when I bought a 50 pack of Verbatim DVD-Rs from Best Buy when they had them on sale one week at $12.99, especially after all the rave reviews Verbatim gets. I have a MacBook Pro and an iMac. Neither computer would recognize the first 10 DVDs from the spindle, so I just gave up on them. Perhaps I got unlucky with my Verbatim batch, perhaps it was one of those batches that were outsourced media. I've never had any problems burning to a Sony though so it's back to them until I ever encounter similar problems with them.

    Best DVD-Rs on the Market

    Reviewed by - May 26, 2009

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Although a little high priced when not on sale, these are the best DVD-Rs on the market. Unlike one reviewer who gave them 2 stars, I have extensive experience with all kinds of blank DVDs. I personally burn literally hundreds of DVDs every month, and my employer burns thousands upon thousands every month. On average, Verbatims have a fail rate of 1-300, whereas the "vaunted" Sony has a fail rate of 1-75 (not to mention Sony DVDs don't work in many DVD players). Memorex? 1-50. TDK 1-50, Dynex 1-25. I would suggest using nothing but Verbatim. While a little pricey as I stated, you can almost always find them on sale for a great price and then they're not only worth it, they're practically worth their weight in gold.

    Consistently the best discs

    Reviewed by - September 14, 2007

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've done a ton of research into blank media quality online as well as 2 years of burning various brands of discs. I also scan every burn for errors, and there's really no contest. Verbatim and Taiyo-Yuden are tops in consistent high quality, with Sony a close second place. TDK, Maxell, Memorex and the others buy their discs from various manufacturers, and their quality varies as a result. Verbatim uses only Mitsubishi discs, and Taiyo-Yuden and Sony make their own. You know what you're getting when you buy these. Buy the good stuff, you won't regret it.

    A Wise Purchase

    Reviewed by - August 28, 2007

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was a little worried about trying out Verbatim brand of media. I usually stick with TDK all the way and Memorex when I can't get TDK. These Verbatim DVD-Rs are certified for 16x, I've got an LG 20X DVD Writer and with these discs burn at 20x by default. NO coasters yet with this media in my LG DVD Writer, I must say that these DVD-Rs are excellent. Will have to purchase some more when then go on sale, so now I'll be getting either Verbatim or TDK, can't go wrong with either really. Don't think, just purchase this wonderful working media.

    50 DVD-R discs, 0 coasters

    Reviewed by - April 27, 2008

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Verbatim discs are known for being high quality discs, so it's no surprise that I made it through my entire spindle of 50 DVD-R discs without any failed burns. With so many cheap brands of discs out there, it's nice to know that I can always fall back on Verbatim's when I need to guarantee a good burn. And what a fabulus purple underside. Very nice. Of course, with the quality comes a little bit of a premium in price. While not typically absurdly expensive, they generally cost a bit more than the average Memorex or Dynex disc.

    Verbatim seems to always work...

    Reviewed by - January 20, 2010

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] In the past I have used a variety of Verbatim products, from the 8" magnetic media disks, (way back when), to a current 8 gig flash drive. I have used their optical CD and DVD media in about 6 different computers with no "coasters" yet. I have played the recorded disks in CD players and in DVD players, and they always seem to work just fine. The website "DigitalFAQ.com" rates this Verbatim optical media as "1st Class Media", (http://www.digitalfaq.com/reviews/dvd-media.htm).

    Best Media, Hands Down!

    Reviewed by - February 9, 2008

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After dealing with 2 other brands changing their media types and being stuck with 200 useless discs, i decided to switch over to Verbatim after reading so many stellar reviews. WOW! I guess everyone is right on the money here. You might pay a little more for these, but honestly you get what you pay for. 100% success on my Plextor PX-716 burner. I've burned about 180 of these so far with absolutely no problems. You really can't go wrong with these!

    They're cheap for a reason

    Reviewed by - April 6, 2008

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] All I can say is that they're cheap for a reason. The first DVD I tried to burn failed right of the bat. I didn't think anything of it when the second one burned just fine, we've all come across the odd bad DVD-R. As I continued to burn DVDs over the next few days I noticed that about every 4th DVD was failing. I know that there's nothing wrong with my drive because every other brand of DVD-R works just fine. My suggestion is to spend the extra few bucks on Sony or Maxell, it's worth it. I'm giving this product 2 stars because I once bought a 100-pack of CompUsa brand DVD-Rs where none of the DVDs worked and customer service refused to take them back because I had lost the receipt. After a long heated discussion they finally gave me my money back for they're own brand of faulty merchandise that I couldn't have bought anywhere else, but that's another story.

    Reliable media.

    Reviewed by - February 11, 2008

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've bought at least 3 50-packs of these and they've all burned flawlessly and still play without a hitch after the 2+ years I've had them. While I've long heard that Taiyo Yuden are the best type of discs, Verbatim are up there too. And I'm happy with them both. The price is usually good too, Best Buy has a great weekly sale on these every so often. In case anyone is wondering, I used an NEC 3520AW DVD-RW to burn these discs.

    Verbatum blunder

    Reviewed by - January 14, 2010

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] ok besides the top-of-the-line Taiyo Yuden, Verbatum is considered 1B in the market. however, once they start outsourcing to various mfg, that's when the product gets tainted. DVD Identifier says that these were batched media code of: CMC MAG AM3....the worst in the business. I usually don't have coasters with Verbatum. I certainly did with this spool. it happens when you cut costs at the sacrific of quality..
