Great Portable HDD!
- April 20, 2020[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had purchased the WD Black 4TB External USB 3.2 Gen Portable HDD for when I needed an external HDD to backup my PS4 and I'm glad I came across this particular item. The price was reasonable and I've predominantly owned Western Digital products for several years when it comes to hard drives as I've learned that they produce some of the most reliable hard drives unlike other brands - at least from my experience anyways. The only I drawback for this is that it isn't a SSD but then again, the price would be even more astronomical if it was. I highly recommend this external HDD if you're looking for something portable, reliable, and affordable.

This drive is SLOW!
- December 13, 2020[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I remember the days when WD Black drives were Western Digital's "Performance" drives. Although I didn't buy this to be a "game drive" as marketed, but rather just a file backup drive, I figured this was a bit more than just WDs cheapest 2.5" HD in a nice enclosure. That was not the case. I'm getting read/write speeds of about 80-100MB/s, which is far below today's standard for 2.5" drives. I was expecting something between 125-150. Very Disappointing. Don't buy these! Get an easystore or seagate expansion instead!

Extremely Reliable and Robust!
- May 14, 2022[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second purchase of this particular model with me purchasing a potential third external hard drive in the near future! I love how versatile these drives are as they can work for both Windows and Apple OS (formatting disk is required to work properly with Apple)! WD has been, in my humble opinion, always a reliable to gravitate towards if your in the market for external hard drives and this one does not disappoint! All in all, if you plan on using this for gaming, multi media, or storing your old photos and documents, this is easily one of the better options floating around in a market full of competitors! And with WD behind it, I know itll last me years to come!

The Last Portable Drive I'll Ever Need!
- July 19, 2020[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] You cannot imagine what something like this means to an old computer person like me. At a large company I worked for, they took us on a tour of the machine room to see the Terabyte of storage they had purchased. About the size of a very small desk. Now, here I am, holding FOUR Terabytes of storage in a device that's the size of a deck of cards. It apparently doesn't have mechanical parts. Amazing. It was designed for gamers, but I don't care; I'm using it for copies of entire books of genealogy records. I've already used 1/8 of it, but that was for all the stuff that was slowing my main computer down. Now I can transport all that research to wherever it needs to go.

Please look for other options
- May 27, 2022[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It’s great for the short term but after a few months I’ve noticed it’ll get real warm and recently for the past month it’ll make a weird loud noise to the point I had to raise the volume while playing games. Manage to put up with the heating up and loud noice until it stopped getting recognized. I could no longer use it. Got a years worth out of it but compare to my $45 1tb seagate hard drive. This one wasn’t so good. This WD hard drive actually downloaded games slower and it’s meant to be for gaming? My other cheaper 1tb hard drive still going strong and quite as always. I’ll now have to look for a replacement for my 4tb drive and not sure if I’ll give Western Digital another chance.

Works great
- July 10, 2020[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Case feels solid. Compatible with my router so I can access my files from any device. Super convenient if I wanted to let’s say, store a movie from my computer and watch it in the living room on my Xbox. It’s been running nonstop for about a month now and no strange noises or issues so far! I’ll try to remember to update this review if I ever have any issues. Purchase price: $105 before tax for 4tb model.

If you have $ for an SSD, get it. If not, get this
- May 1, 2020[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far I've purchased 2 of these drives. My first was a 4T drive for our Xbox One S and then I purchased this 5T drive for our PS4. Packaging was nice, build feels sturdy and has a little weight to it. They've performed nicely and haven't had any issues so far, nor do I plan to. I've owned Seagate and WD in the past and also currently have a portable WD for my laptop. Huge reason I chose WD over Seagate is I had not one but two Seagate hard drives crash and unable to recover my data before. Therefore, I do what I can to stay away from them. I wish the write speeds were a little faster (states up to 140mbps) but it's to be expected. It says its accelerated but without testing speeds ect side by side, I dont really notice a difference. I was doing big transfers (totalled 1.5T) and took quite a while to do it. I wanted an SSD but wasn't prepared to pay for them. Instead, I settled on this drive and was happy enough with it that I purchased a second. I'd purchase again if needed.

Perfect for what it does
- May 23, 2020[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’d been using a 4TB Seagate on the XBOX for a while but it think it’s was getting old i.e. bad sectors and WD is the way to go ... I think that the specs are faster and performs way beyond my old drive. Wanted the 5TB but wasn’t in stock ... the price could be a little close to reasonable
