What customers are saying

The product received very positive feedback overall. Customers found the prehistoric setting and ability to tame wild animals like mammoths and sabertooth tigers to be an engaging and refreshing twist on the typical Far Cry gameplay. The open world exploration, graphics, and overall gameplay were praised as high quality, even if the story was not as strong as previous entries. While the shift to more primitive tools was an adjustment for some, most felt it added to the immersive caveman experience. The game provided hours of entertainment and content, with a good balance of challenge and fun, and was highly recommended by both new and existing fans.

    Great, but too FarCry-y

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - March 5, 2016

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Far Cry Primal is a great game...if you have never played a Far Cry game before. The brutal, animalistic combat feels more tense than previous Far Cry games due to the fact that everything from your cromagnen antagonists, to every animal around, it feels like every living thing in Primal is trying to kill you. Combine this with the fantastic pre-historic visuals and phenomenal, environmental sound design; this game really makes you feel as though you are fighting for your life. But with an unsatisfying and the standard level-up skill tree style progression Ubisoft is know for, it may be a hit or miss title depending on your history with the franchise.

    !!A Must-Have For Your Collection!!

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - March 30, 2016

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Whether you are a seasoned FarCry fanatic, or a newcomer this game will blow your mind!!! An amazing concept exploring this time period! Graphics are completely insane, gameplay is traditional FarCry combined with a new and refreshing arsenal of primtative weapons. With the open-world concept and multiple side-missions and engaging story I definitely felt I received my money's worth. I have 36 hours in the game and I'm still not 100% complete. I do admit at times (if your grinding away at side missions) the game can feel repetitious, but there are plenty of ways to occupy your time to break up the monotony. Go buy this game. You won't be disappointed.

FEELS AS ARCHAIC AS ITS PREMISE...!!

    Reviewed by - March 18, 2016

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely LOVED Far Cry 4, but this is NOT Far Cry. Far Cry is all about exploration and its variety of weapons and wild varied missions. This game feels like a broken $14.99 expansion pack. The world, while expansive is down right boring so you never want to explore it. The weapons, clubs, clubs with fire, a crafted bow out of sticks and other archaic items. And while each is true to its time period, none are any fun WHATSOEVER to actually use for an entire a game. The constant dialogue you have to read, the orange tone to the graphics, the purposeless feeling...all come together to suggest SAVE YOUR MONEY

    Best Far Cry after FC3

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - April 15, 2016

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Best Far Cry since Far Cry 3. Some may not like the fact that there are no guns or vehicles in this, but it did not bother me. In fact, it made it more fun, being very primitive and have to hunt and gather your tools and food in order to craft weapons and grown your tribe. The world of Oros is amazingly beautiful and dangerous too. Plenty of rivals to take out and plenty of animals trying to kill you! I enjoyed everything about this game, even the side missions are fun. If you want a SP game with a HUGE open world to explore and like games like Far Cry and Dying Light, you definitely should give this a shot.

    Fun game

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - April 2, 2016

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Far Cry Primal has the look and feel of a typical Far Cry game, but with a new twist. There are no guns in this game. At first, I was a little concerned because the gun customization for the past games was always a lot of fun. After playing this game for about 15 hours in total so far, it is one of my favorites for this series. They make you enjoy the weapons you get; bow, throwing stones, and especially the spear. It is also a cool idea to let us use the animals in the game for protection. Once you tame one of the wild animals, they get to follow you around and help to fend off other animals or bad guys too. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun open world game with really good graphics.

    Good, but not great

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - August 11, 2016

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Primal feels like not quite a full game, but not quite a small, downloadable game, either, so think of it as being somewhere between Far Cry 4 and Blood Dragon. I say this because it does feel an awful lot like Far Cry 4 without changing much (other than the setting, of course) and with less to do (and a very boring, throwaway story). That said, it is fun if you like the basic foundation and mechanics of Far Cry, it is very pretty (though very brown), and I can't deny the joy that comes from having my own tiger follow me around who I can also pet whenever I feel like it.

    Best Game Ever

    Reviewed by - June 16, 2016

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am a 52 yr. old female and I LOVE this game! These days it is hard to find games that you can play offline!! You can with this game. I am not big on games with Military or Guns Only, so this was prefect for me. I LOVED taming the animals and sending them off to attack. I love the nature aspect of it and hunting the collectable things. I love the prehistoric timeline and building a clan. Taming and Riding Mammoths and Saber-tooth tigers is awesome! I cannot say enough about the beauty, soundtrack, animals and FUN in this game. Ubisoft you out did yourself on this one!

Unique game compared to the usual releases

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - April 9, 2016

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have never played any of the Farcry games before, but I rather enjoyed Primal. The "caveman" setting was something that I have not really encountered before during my twenty five years of gaming. The graphics were excellent, the mechanics worked extremely well for a first-person pov, and the animal taming abilities in the game add a whole new dynamic to the usual mission-centered first-person games that the current market seems saturated with. The only lacking portion of the game, in my opinion, would have to be the story.

    Ok, but not as good

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - March 26, 2016

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Far Cry Primal was an OK experience not as great as the previous Far Cry I think it would have been better though if you would have been able to build your own base rather something help you to do it. If I woulda added a little bit of an element has Fallout had then it would have been something greater. I was saying if you like the Stone Age and you have never really played the past games than this I would recommend but if you're looking for something better and greater than the previous versions this is not the game

    Outdoor fun

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - March 2, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Take the dream ("tripping") sequences from Far Cry 4 and make that a whole game! - Some exec in ubisoft While that might not be the worst thing it wasn't the best either. Mammals would have been cooler as dinosaurs (see ubisofts online poll asking for the next far cry idea when dinosaurs won) but alas I digress. It was an entertaining game but the story was ultimately flat. Love conquering bases, hates gimmick fights. Try hard to not enjoy the living heck out of rising a sabertooth tiger into battle. I dare you.
