A MacBook Pro Size for Every User
The MacBook Pro is Apple’s prosumer laptop. Machined from aluminum, with Apple integrating more and more recycled materials over the years, it’s also equipped with backlit keyboard, fast processor, a brilliant Retina display, and SSD storage. The MacBook Pro is designed to deliver portable performance.
Apple’s MacBook Pro line has been in production since 2006. Among recent releases, there are three display sizes, ranging from 13.3 inches up to 16 inches. The latest models boast improved battery life and performance, plus new features thanks to the latest OS, all of which aim to improve your productivity and entertainment experiences.
Touch Bar and Touch ID
The Touch Bar, still found in some MacBook Pro models, is an OLED touch strip across the top of the keyboard that made its debut in the MacBook Pro in 2016. It replaces the function keys, displays contextual information, and incorporates touch control for common functions like volume and screen brightness.
Also part of the Touch Bar is a Touch ID biometric fingerprint sensor. Touch ID can be used to unlock the laptop, and to make purchases with Apple Pay. It’s one of the most useful yet least talked about features of the latest MacBook Pro models. And it’s one you’ll literally use daily.
Magic Keyboard
For many years, the MacBook Pro was equipped with butterfly mechanism keyboards that were 40% thinner than standard versions. Starting in late 2019, the 16-inch MacBook Pro adopted a new “Magic Keyboard” that uses a traditional scissor mechanism for longer life and improved tactile feedback. The 13.3-inch MacBook Pro models upgraded to the Magic Keyboard in early 2020. The latest version is backlit so you can easily work both day and night, and offers a comfortable, quiet, and responsive typing experience.
Display Changes Through the Years
Its display has always been a McBook Pro strong point. All recent MacBook Pro models feature bright, widescreen Retina displays, all high resolution as high as 3,072 x 1,920, up to 500 nits of brightness, Wide Color (P3) support, and True Tone technology.
Handling Intense Workflows
Apple MacBook Pro models can handle intense workflows thanks to up to 10-core GPUs, 10-core Neural Engines for advanced machine learning, and up to 32GB unified memory for fast and fluid operation. You’ll also find plenty of non-user upgradeable storage options that count in the terabytes, as well as multiple USB-C and Thunderbolt ports capable of 40Gbps data transfer and able to drive multiple 4K monitors. The great thing about a MacBook Pro is you can customize each model to your liking, upgrading each spec until you create the perfect computer for you.
What’s the Difference With M Series Processors
The single biggest change to the MacBook Pro line took place in 2020, when Apple released an M1-powered version of the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro. The M series chip, which continues to be refined and released in new versions, is Apple’s own custom-designed processor with integrated graphics. It allows Macs to run iOS apps and is optimized for performance and power efficiency. Apple and 3rd party software companies have been updating software to run natively on M series MacBook Pros.
Battery Life
MacBook Pros have always featured “all day” battery life, and thanks to the M series chips, battery life continues to improve with every new model.
Wi-Fi 6
New MacBook Pro models are equipped with Wi-Fi 6, affording faster speeds when you’re tackling bandwidth-intensive apps, software, and activities, from playing games to streaming videos, content creation, and more. Multitasking is a breeze.
