    So far so good.

I suppose I will now really know until the power goes out, but it appears to be working well for now. Since I had changed from a desktop computer and monitor to a laptop, my electrical load requirements had decreased and I figured I could move downward from my present APC, a BX1300G, to this one that I bought, the BE650G1, which only has one battery instead of 2 like the BX1300G. That way when I need to replace the battery, it is only one instead of two. As it turned out, I decided to move the BX1300G over to the TV, cable box, Blue Ray player, etc., which I presently had on just a standard surge protector. All worked out well, I would say.

Great Product - Love the Green Option

    Reviewed by - November 19, 2009

Let's face it. Everyone should have their computers attached to a UPS. Agreed? Ok, it that's the case why wouldn't you use an APC Back-UPS ES 8 Outlet UPS? Everyone has lots of things that need to be plugged in and protected, either by surge protection or battery backup. 8 outlets are better than 6! The really nice thing about the APC products, other than their quality, is that when one dies, and they all die eventually, you can order a new one. The price is discounted because you are going to send your old one back to them. This eliminates these things ending up in the landfill somewhere. Great all around. New, more power UPS and they take the old one away. You don't even pay for shipping for the return. I won't go anywhere else for my UPS's.

    Perfect for the T.V. Room

    Reviewed by - March 14, 2010

Towards the end of a long winter on the East Coast; I realized that the wimpy surge protector was not offering any thing of value against the brown-outs and blackouts. I used APC's Trade-Up program; I surrendered an old 500VA (dead battery) unit, to obtain the "APC Back-UPS ES 8 Outlet 650VA." I received the new UPS in only a couple of days. The installation of the UPS was simple and quick. Within a couple of days the UPS was tested by another black-out. This 650VA units worked perfectly to support; 50" Plasma, Sony 7-channel A/V receiver, XBox-360, and a small network switch, for several minutes without an issue. I then choose to turn off the equipment when the power did not return. I highly recommend this product for any power solution; including the very expensive TV Room equipment.

    lasted 9 years

    Reviewed by - February 20, 2020

I don't know the life span of the whole unit is but the battery is 3 to 5 years and I got 9 out of that battery some people state that surge protectors should be replaced every 5 years and others say 10 years I'm happy getting 9 great years out of that unit. i just replaced it with another back-ups 650 the first one was a back-ups ES 650, the new one is the same with less outlets. I only use it to keep the network up during a power outage. Hopefully this one gives me another 9 years or more

    Doing it's job!

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - January 2, 2020

I've had APC UPS's for many years now, I think since at least the year 2000. I've used one for storms in case the power went out, I used it for the TV and any support equipment to keep on top of the progress of bad weather. I've never had one fail me or fail to protect my computer equipment. Even though I have my current house on whole house surge protection, I rely on APC UPS's to protect and keep running, those devices I depend on to keep us safe! Thank you APC!

    Great little item!

    Reviewed by - June 5, 2012

We already had an APC Back-UPS 550, so when we needed to replace two older units - one an APC product, the other of a different brand - we automatically wanted a similar APC product to the 550. These are compact and with the available ports, outlets, etc., they are perfect for our needs. We even put one in an upper kitchen cabinet to be out the way, and it produces less heat than the previous older other-brand model did. We are very happy with our acquisitions!

    Replacement for older APC UPS

    Reviewed by - December 6, 2012

I recently replaced my failing APC 350U UPC with a newer APC 650 backup unit. So far I have not had any power outages so I can't yet comment on power loss handling, but the unit was easy to set up and connect to my PC. It initially showed a run time of 123 minutes but after its first automatic self check the run time then displayed as 23 minutes which is more like I expected. If I encounter an adverse problems with this unit, I'll be back to update my review.

    Battery connections "impossible"

    Reviewed by - March 25, 2011

This unit replaces a BR800 that failed after only six or seven years *(the unit, not just the batteries). This one has better features such as the wider spaced plugs, but it was almost impossible to get the battery far enough out of the case to connect the positive lead (the negative lead was pre-connected). Someone with lesser mechanical skills could not have done it, and I'm not sure what I will do if/when I have to change the battery.

    Great Battery

    Reviewed by - August 7, 2010

I purchased this battery to replace my previous backup battery that was no longer holding a charge. Set up was very easy, and the battery and software have been performing perfectly. We have a lot of little brown-outs where I live, particularly when the weather is bad and this battery has been able to handle it without a problem! A big plus for me was being able to recycle my old battery when I made my purchase!

As always, great product from APC

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - August 8, 2019

Purchased a Back-UPS 650 to replace an APC backup with an expired battery. I'd replaced the battery in that unit once. I decided to go with the trade-in option, which was a little more costly than just replacing the battery. I'm very happy with my purchase as it was easy to install and works seamlessly with my Mac OS system. The return procedure for the trade-in unit was easy, too.
