This is a custom Arlo Pro 4 camera not a regular

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - January 2, 2022

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Beware! This is a custom BESTBUY Arlo Pro 4 Camera! Its not the regular Arlo pro 4 camera. The mount comes permentantly attached to the camera and isnt removable. Also the camera requires a special security tool (included in the package) to open the camera battery compartment and also to remove the mount so if you lose that special tool, you cant change the battery or mount versus the REGULAR Arlo Pro 4 that you can buy in a regular bundle or as an add on which isnt permenantly attached to a mount and has a small push button to remove the camera battery compartment! Buy the single camera add on or a bundle with a base station.

Near Perfect Wireless Floodlight Cam Solution

    Reviewed by - November 4, 2020

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have Arlo Pro 1 & 2 cameras at our house, and I was looking for a floodlight to add to the side of the house near our garbage bins because it's pretty much pitch black at night when I take the trash out. When I saw that I could pick up an Arlo camera with floodlight, I thought 'Great - a camera and a light!' In truth, the Arlo floodlight camera is a nice addition to our Arlo family, however there are some shortcomings that Arlo could easily fix. The camera itself is fairly large and the light can get really bright. If you have other Arlo cameras, this thing is easily the size of 2 or 3 of them. The unit comes with: - Floodlight Camera - Mounting Plate - Drywall Anchors and screws - Rechargable battery pack - Micro-USB charging cable - USB charging brick It's pretty much the all-in-one solution I was looking for. I was able to connect it with my existing Arlo base and camera set up fairly quickly. Out of the box, there was a firmware update that Arlo had available, so I used that time to connect the charging cable and charge the battery up as well. Arlo does make a magnetic charging cable option if you want to be able to essentially "hard wire" this camera up, but that option wouldn't have worked with where I wanted to mount it... not unless I paid an electrician to run an outlet nearby. The hardest part was installing the unit - mostly because I thought I was going to be able to mount it to the brick instead of the wood trim under the gutters. At the end of the day, I check the screw lengths and they were long enough to hold the mounting plate in place snugly agains the wooden trim. Just be sure to check the clearance when mounting, because you could find your space a bit tight due to how wide the floodlights are on either side. Once I had it up and running, I was able to go into the Arlo app and set up an activity zone. Something that Arlo doesn't make very clear is how to automatically trigger the light. I thought by creating an activity zone and setting the light to go off between dusk and dawn that it would automatically go off if it detected motion. True to Arlo's settings though, this camera works like their other ones - you have to have the cameras in an "Armed" mode in order for the camera to look for motion and then it'll trigger the lights. You can manually turn on and off the lights from the Arlo app - but there again is where an unnecessary limitation exists. If you want to have that setting on for the floodlight camera to automatically turn on when it detects motion, you either have to make a custom mode for it, or have your entire system on "Armed". I fee like Arlo could've made a setting for this that allows you to engage the light while leaving everything else disarmed, but it's essentially Armed or not. The video quality on the camera is quite good too - but that also depends on the strength of your WiFi signal, so your milage may vary. Overall, I'm happy with the camera. I haven't had it long enough to comment on battery life, but it's been up and running for about 4 days now and the battery is at 98%. I typically leave my Arlo system on a schedule setting, so it's only looking for motion during the night, so I'm sure that's helping save the battery life also.

Excellent video quality with minor nuisances

    Reviewed by - November 10, 2020

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Initial set up and installation was fairly quick and easy. Once the app was downloaded, the directions given through the app were clear and easy to follow. The app itself is user friendly, easy to learn, and easy to navigate through. I really appreciate that if you select the siren to sound, a second window pops up to confirm so before sounding it. There are many features and setting options within the app, and it really allows for each user to set up the camera to their specific preferences. The first feature I set up through the app was the activity zone for the motion sensor. I have my floodlight camera mounted on the garage to overlook the driveway. Initially I set the activity zone to be too close to the street and it was picking up EVERY single car that passed by – which resulted in a phone notification every time. I had to adjust this zone setting several times and ended up limiting the zone to basically the length of a parked car, but, sometimes, passing cars (on my side of the street only) still trigger the motion sensor. The other issue I have with the activity zone is that for some reason, the car parked furthest away from the camera creates a “blind spot” for the motion sensor, on the side furthest from the camera. This is a problem for two reasons: First, this side happens to be the driver’s side of the vehicle so if theft were to occur, it’s possible the camera would miss it. Second, this is how a person walks up to our front door, so most of that motion occurrence is also missed by the camera. Oddly enough, the camera picks up the motion right after walking past the nose of the car, but unfortunately the view of the person is quickly blocked as they walk past the front of the garage. I currently have the camera mounted one side of the garage to look out (diagonally) across the driveway and our front yard. It’s possible that if I mounted the camera to be centered over the driveway, this “blind spot” would be resolved, but to me, it shouldn’t resort to that considering how wide I have the activity zone set at. Other than the couple inaccuracies with the set activity zone, the camera works very well. The video is high quality and provides great images. There is a reduction in video quality with limited lighting, but the flood light on the camera is excellent in providing light to improve it. In addition, with enough light present – either our garage sconce lights or the camera’s flood light – the nighttime video is still in color. If there is not enough light present, the video is in black and white, but the quality is excellent considering the conditions. The only issue I noticed with the video quality is that quick, sudden movements do result in motion blur, even in daylight conditions, but normal movement does not. With the camera installed for over a week, the battery is at 90% charge. It hasn’t gotten cold enough to see how that might affect the life, but so far, I am pretty happy with the idea that I would only have to recharge the camera every couple months or so. Even with the impressive battery life, I know I will quickly get tired of having to recharge the battery so I’m very glad that this camera has the option to hook up a solar panel charger (sold separately) to it. Overall, the camera is excellent, and the floodlight brightness is very satisfactory. The app provides an abundance of features to personalize the settings to what works best for each individual user. I think there is still room for some improvement with the activity zone set up and the motion blur, but that will likely improve as the technology evolves. Pros: High quality video, easy to install, flood light provides great lighting, great battery life, numerous setting options and app features, excellent night vision, night vision in color with enough lighting present Cons: Zone setting inaccuracies, motion blur with quick / sudden movements, easy to remove / steal if familiar with the brand

Terrific monitoring equipment with a few drawbacks

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - September 29, 2022

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall a pretty good main security camera for the front section of the property, not too overly-sensitive picking up unnecessary stuff and one is able to zone-in and off areas in the camera's FOV to pick-up activities. It's super easy to setup too provided one has the right proper tools. I like how one can essentially customize so many functionalities depending on someone's living area/neighborhood aka if you live in a generally safe area then most "too-obvious-to-notice" functionalities may be turned off or limited such as the super bright floodlight (at its highest, plugged in setting) and setting it not to trigger the siren. A few drawbacks do exist as follow: 1)our camera puts out static and sometimes scratching noise when wi-fi becomes a little spotty (we live in a 2,000 sq ft house where the routers are located up on the 2nd floor) albeit recorded actions thankfully do not pick-up much of the audio distortions; Arlo customer rep said that it happens if wi-fi router is more than 20 or so ft away and/or wi-fi becomes spotty; our router is indeed about maybe 50 ft away and up on the 2nd floor; 2)the camera's design, while futuristic and almost cute cartoon character-like in appearance, proves to be a head-turner for some neighbors which means that any bad guys would probably spot it fairly easily; 3)another is that it randomly goes offline during evening hours for a few minutes, one time it happened only for it to do firmware update. More benefits do exist though beyond the above mentioned drawbacks and it's wise to invest on not-too-expensive surveillance equipment such as Arlo's. I was impressed enough that I got an Arlo Essential Spotlight Cam for our backyard and hooked it up to an Arlo solar panel for continuous hands-free power source. This floodlight camera consumes more power for obvious reasons (floodlight, 2K video, IR mode) and 100% battery lasts for about 5-7 days but it's not a problem for us as I went and bought the Arlo 25 ft mag power cord/charger and faux "hard-wired" the thing for easy charging and power management. Now managing Arlo cameras and viewing clips/streaming live feed is fairly easy and one can do it in the Arlo app which works fine and dandy and easy to understand for both the iOS and Android versions. One can also manage the cameras online using Arlo dashboard on an online computer for those not too keen on using smartphones but this comes with a warning as the Arlo dashboard online streaming function barely works half of the time which makes me feel like streaming is more optimized for mobile devices than on an actual computer. One can use an Arlo home base kit with memory card to instantly save captured moments or one can subscribe monthly to different tiers of Arlo service to manage more functionalities and temporary cloud storage for captured moments for those like me who don't like the hassle of managing a home base and memory cards. Cloud storage stores captured moments for 30 days or so and I can just go back and/or instantly save to my phone and/or computer the very important video clips within the cloud time period before they get deleted. Now people will ask...how is the picture quality? Well, it all depends yet again on the reliability/strength/distance from the wi-fi internet source and the internet traffic in the general area. For the most part, this 2K camera do not output heavily-pixelated images and images look fairly good, better than a 1080p image for sure, but won't be like in action movies where they enhance or de-enhance images down to the last visible atom in an image. For our intent and purposes, having an "eye outside" is good enough to monitor the goings-on and help with identifying persons and things if suspicious things come up. Long-term weather-related performance will be a challenge for me to know right now as we've only had this for a few weeks and also, we live in a 'burb 10 miles from the heart of downtown LA meaning this camera is in SoCal and we hardly if at all get rain over here. So far though, it's gone through the season's super heat waves and worked just fine. To conclude, this floodlight camera comes highly recommended for home-use, maybe also for small businesses on small properties/locations. Good luck on your shopping around for security cameras.

    Bright floodlight!

    Reviewed by - April 6, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a really great security system to have. The floodlight is really bright and the brightness is adjustable. Set up was really easy. Download the app and the app walks you through the whole process. Installing the floodlight was easy. 3 screws and it was up. You will need to purchase a cable for the floodlight that will keep the floodlight and camera charged at all times. The cable will be a long cable that attached to the bottom of the light and then you plug it into a receptacle. The app has a ton of customizable features for the security system and the floodlight. The video quality of the recorded videos is really good. We have ours set to record motion. So when if records motion it will zoom in on the motion. It comes with a 3 month subscription to store your video recordings.

    Arlo Floodlight review!

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - November 11, 2022

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the Arlo pro with floodlight for my front yard to be able to watch my puppy do his business; the camera and lights alone are insufficient unless you have a small yard. I needed to purchase additional floodlight ( 2 - 350 watt) in order to adequately illuminate my front yard. I also needed to purchase 2 additional Arlo pro cameras to accomplish my goal. It’s important to note that the Arlo pro - Ultra cameras **** night vision*** works better than the Camera with the floodlights. Once I had all 3 cameras up I realized that the best combination is 2 Arlo Pro + high intensity floodlights. It’s also important to note that the zoom is limited especially at night.

    Outstanding Purchase

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - November 18, 2022

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This turned out to be a great decision by me to purchase these Arlo Security Cameras. They are awesome, and even at night the picture is very clear. They were very easy to install and did not take a Rocket Scientist to set up on my phone. The price of this multi camera package was reasonable and well worth the price. I even went out afterwards to purchase the solar charging panels to keep these cameras always up and recording. I’m very Happy with this purchase.

    Ultimate Home Monitoring

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - July 29, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These cameras come along way from the originals. They have more features, clearer images, night vision is great, built in security light, determine whether an animal or person and a theft mechanism. I use these to help protect my home and family when away and at night when my family is asleep. Pros: I can control each camera with the app home or away. I can check my home at anytime. I can set up certain areas of the cameras view called "activity zones" I can interact with people or animals thru the app. Cons: There is a small monthly fee for video space. (Many people don't realize this until they get home).

    Arlo Camera Review

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - August 13, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Cameras need a very strong WiFi signal to work well. The trade off is the installation is easy, install the cameras anywhere. We needed to buy the mesh WiFi and up the internet speed to get WiFi all over the house, but the cameras work well. You only get the anti theft mounts if you buy a three pack. I bought 2 extra cameras and had to buy 2 mounts separately. You have to mount cameras on a vertical surface or figure out how to mount it yourself. I made some adapter mounts myself. I wanted to mount under the eaves for protection, but can’t do it with their mounts, only move 45 degrees. I don’t like the magnetic mounts, easy to mount, but easy to steal.
