We tried to use the warming drawer for the first time and it got stuck after opening and closing it a couple times. We removed the drawer and found out that the locking mechanism was the culprit. Some cheap plastic locking piece on one side of the sliding rail seemed to be not working properly and I had to contact BOSCH to get it repaired. It was surprising to see the use of a cheap plastic for the locking mechanism, which is a critical part of the warming drawer. If I had known it, I would have bought BOSCH.

I purchased the warmer draw with a little trepidation but now use it regularly and am more than happy with the purchase. It proven to be a great addition to the configuration. I use it not only for plate warming but also bread proving and product hot holding, freeing up precious oven space.

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Like some previous reviews, the push mechanism that keeps the drawer locked in place broke off. I've only used this a dozen times in six months. A small piece of plastic keeping this together just snapped off. The drawer itself is excellent however I do hope Bosch will review the part they offer to replace this as I suspect this will fail again.

Since the power switch is inside the drawer, I removed power to the unit at the circuit breaker and eventually opened the drawer by repeatedly pushing it closed and then quickly pulling outward with a bit of force. Considering the bad reviews posted here (and elsewhere) by other Series 500 owners, it appears that this is a common problem in an appliance that isn't very sturdy. It's my opinion that the drawer-slide problem is a design flaw.

I have had this product and have been using it consistently for a few months now. First off, I love how this warming drawer looks. It’s sleek, clean, and looks great in my kitchen. The temperature settings are great. However, the opening and closing mechanism is horrible. You need to push it to open it, and most of the time, it does not open right away, and it takes a few pushes for it to pop open. The same thing happens when you try to close it- I need to push it in a few times until it actually stays closed. The mechanism feels extremely flimsy and it seems as if it is going to break every time I use it. I fear that it will break eventually, once the item is out of warranty, and then I will be stuck with a non-functioning warming drawer, or in other words, a waste of good money. I do not recommend this product.
