Perfect For The Self-Sufficient Ice Cream Enthusiast!

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - January 29, 2024

I made a test/practice batch of Strawberry Sorbet from a recipe I found online that had both "Simple Freezer" and "Churned" options, and holy cow was the Churned recipe easy. So easy, in fact, that I'd say it was harder to boil the simple syrup down than it was to actually use the Smart Scoop! Highly recommend it if you want a set-it-and-forget-it option for homemade ice cream - I can't WAIT to experiment with my own recipes. Bubble Gum With Bubble Gum Fudge? Don't mind if I do!

    Works well kinda

I purchased this ice cream maker about two weeks ago and right out of the box there were some issues we followed all the manufactures recommendations saying to leave the box upright for 12 hours we took it out we made custard base and make sure he was chilled for 24 hours before it was put into the pre-chilled ice cream maker and still the temperature fluctuated it got up to about 10 or 11° and then quickly went back down to the temperature came back up again and even now two weeks later we're having some issues with the temperature fluctuation I contacted Brevell they were supposed to get in touch with me with a service advisor but I haven't heard back yet this is the second product I purchased from Best Buy that does not work right out of the box

    Excellent Ice Cream Maker!

    Reviewed by Peaco2 - August 10, 2020

I have three of the kind where you have to put the container into the freezer for a couple days to make sure it’s frozen solid. Went to make ice cream the other day and realized that I did not have any of them frozen! Thought it was time to try one with a compressor and this is the one I chose. This is literally almost half the price of anywhere else. Have made four batches of ice cream in the last 2 weeks, and it is absolutely the best to be able to make ice cream on a whim! No regrets here, highly recommend this product. You just need to make sure you have room on your counter because it’s too heavy to be lugging back-and-forth out of a cupboard like the smaller ones.

Quite impressive - Results as good as a professional machine

    Reviewed by G.R. - August 10, 2017

Quite impressed with the results. In the past, I have used an expensive italian ice cream maker. The results were about the same. Recently, I have tried a competitor's model with an arm on top that controls the churning. Bad experience: the arm would often pry off, stopping the churning, and the ice cream has to be put in the frezzer for a while after churning because it remains a little liquid. With this model, the ice cream is ready when the cycle is over. You may even leave it there a while with the keep cool setting. It very easy to use and the results are really great. With good recepees, you will get incredible results. It has setting for sherbert, frozen yogourt, gelato and ice cream. Enjoy

    Breville Ice Cream maker

Reviewed by Brad Short - June 25, 2015

Don't hesitate, just buy one before they're all gone. Bought this for my wife's Birthday and she was thrilled. This is the most awesome little counter appliance you've ever seen. Free shipping was overnight!!!! Canada Post will drop ship it in it's original box. So if it is to be a surprise you need to ask for "gift wrapping". I was hoping it would be quieter but is no more noisy than a dishwasher. Makes everything from Sorbates thru to Ice Cream. Recently my wife made Chocolate Malt with this machine. Brought back child memories. The recipe book is loaded with good stuff. The internet has lots of recipes too. It works fast(40min or so) so multiple batches are easy on a hot day. If you want hard ice cream, transfer the batch into a 1 litre container and toss it in the deep freeze.

    Delicious Ice cream

    Reviewed by Margaret Benjamin-Maxwell - May 8, 2019

I first tried some ice cream made in a Breville a couple years ago and was pleasantly surprised how delicious it was. I recently purchased one for myself and made passionfruit ice cream. I was not disappointed by the taste which is just like a premium ice cream. My husband was also impressed by the taste and quality. This machine is also very easy to use and clean. My only complaint is that it did not come with a recipe book so I have to go online to find recipes.

    99% churned

    Reviewed by Regan - August 30, 2016

This is my first ice cream maker with a compressor, and it's a real boon to be able to make batches back to back, rather than wait at least 24 hours for a freezer bowl to refreeze. The pre-chill function gets the chamber very cold, in no time flat. However, when the "finished churning" tone sounds, there is a tendency for there still to be unfrozen/unwhipped ice cream mix in the bottom of the bowl.

bought this for a birthday present. My mother loved it. we made the most wonderful ice cream. I prefer the soft style but you can make which ever style you like. its so easy and no need to worry about freezing the ice cream bowl before hand. I think this will get plenty of use, from ice cream to gelato to sorbet frozen yogurt the possibilities are endless. thanks breville

Test before you take it home!

    Reviewed by - August 27, 2024

I just bought one today and right out of the box the hardness setting rotary knob did not work. I saw online that many others have had this problem. I returned it to the big box store and got another and tested it in the store this time before leaving and found that one to work fine. Bonus was that the store gave me a 50$ discount for the inconvenience! Yay! So far I've made 3 batches on day one and I'm AMAZED by the quality of the ice cream! I made a standard vanilla bean custard base and found that it finished in only about 35 mins! Faster than I've seen others post online. I so want to give this a 5 star but I'm annoyed with the cheap, flimsy knob that I hope won;t fail on this second machine I bought. Really enjoying this machine and hope it lasts!

    An Impressive Machine

    Reviewed by D.O. - September 5, 2016

I received this appliance as a gift and was not only surprised and happy I got it, but was truly impressed with its solid structure, its size, and ease of use. It would be nice if the bowl was a bit bigger, say two quarts, but totally sufficient at what it is. Now, if they would have included a full size recipe book to go along with it, it would have been perfect.
