Electrical problems
- January 21, 2021Model....SK500XL Have to keep turning the Kettle to activate the switch. Only works in an arc of 45 degrees. Both of them have the same problem. Tried WD40 etc. No luck. Pity cannot open it to check it out. In one of them the filter body just broke hence auto shut off is useless. Can you please advise? Once a month desacale them too. In one of them indicator light keeps flickering and switch cracked.

Shows every mark
- November 20, 2023My old Breville soft top clear was only replaced by a newer model because the handle kept breaking and it had become very dangerous. Otherwise it was a great kettle and what’s more the brushed stainless steel did not show fingerprints. However my new Breville Pure with a different handle though it works extremely well and is much quieter than the older model shows every finger print. Why can’t you produce a brushed stainless steel that doesn’t. Who has time to polish their kettle all the time. All my other kitchen appliances are brushed stainless steel and don’t require continual polishing. What’s happening Breville?

Great style and function
- July 30, 2021Gorgeous design with matt stainless finish to match other kitchen appliances. The upright cylindrical shape is a bit different and appeals to me much more than the more commonly seen tapered or dome shapes. Front facing volume window is clear and attractive. Relatively quiet and fast with a nice little "ding" once boiled. Comfortable handle, large lid for filling, soft close lid. Not too heavy. My third of the same design. With age I have sometimes had leaking from the bottom seam of the kettle but Breville has had fantastic customer service - either sending me a replacement or offering me a new one at a cheaper price if it is well out of its warranty.

A very good kettle
- November 27, 2024I had actually purchased this kettle some years ago but noticed that it was missing as being registered in my Breville account; I decided to do so and was asked to do this review. It is very well made and holds 1.7L of water. We use filtered water so we have not noticed much scale buildup, but it will occur over time. It heats very quickly with an automatic shutoff. It sits on a power base and is easily removed to pour into a teapot or other cooking device. It "dings" when boiled and shuts off automatically when removed from the base. There is a small screen filter at the spout which should be cleaned every now and then; we often forget it is there. Recommended.

Stopped Working
- July 1, 2022After two years the kettle stopped working. The switch light would flash on and immediately turn off. The kettle will not heat. If I spun the kettle on its base I could sometimes find the perfect spot and the kettle would work. That didn't last long. I looked for an online repair solution. I could not find any. Other people had the same issue I have. Breville was unable to provide a solution to the issue. In my opinion, an appliance should last more than two years. Breville's solution to throw the kettle away and purchase a new one is not good for the environment. Breville should work towards resolving these issues instead of trying to sell more products.

From cracked top plastic window to replacement Kettle
- December 26, 2024After almost 2 years, the top plastic window seems to have cracked inexplicably. As it was not covered under warranty according to Breville, they offered a discounted purchase option for a replacement. Whilst this is helpful, it did leave a question mark as WHY the top plastic window cracked? Fortunately the crack was no so large as to drop pieces inside the kettle, it could potential be an issue to consider if you plan to use this model. The replacement kettle which we purchased from Breville works OK so far.

Favourite kettle
- December 5, 2019I had this kettle for years and had to rebuy it when it finally died. I've gifted this kettle too. I like that it has large volume, it's simple on/off with a big opening and the clean profile.

For me the best kettle.
- January 23, 2024First I bought this model when turn on lighting in side and seeing water clearly , it was 2008 I used 10 year without any problem and gave to my son they still use it. 2017 I bought new one there was no light in side when you turn on was nt happy about it but still I am using there is no problem. Yesterday my second son asked me to have it I gave him. Today I went to store to buying as same as style but it was out of stock. I strated to read review and shock every commend and pictures. Each time quality going down I know but not I am not sure I have to buy as sam style or not. It is my favorite kettle.

Looks nice, poor quality.
- October 17, 2025I should have read these reviews before I bought this kettle. Just four weeks after the 12 month warranty expired and our kettle has also developed a crack in the lid window that is letting steam escape. Clearly this is a problem with this model that will never be addressed. During these economic times we decided to go cheaper after having 2 of the Breville Smart Kettles. Big mistake. Now changing brands.

Sad what happened to it
- September 20, 2024After reading a lot of wonderful reviews my sin decided to gift me this kettle. No even a year and during heating up the water this happened. So very disappointed especially we really like this brand. We purchased juice maker and coffee machine and works fine. Somehow I would like to see if company can replace the lid if possible. Thank you
