What customers are saying

This refrigerator offers ample storage space, adjustable shelves, and bright interior lighting for easy access. The convenient bottom freezer design with a pull-out drawer provides good accessibility. The sleek slate/gray finish is attractive and resists fingerprints. The appliance operates quietly and delivers reliable cooling performance. It also features a water dispenser and ice maker. While the freezer section is on the smaller side and some find the drawers and shelves a bit flimsy, the majority of customers are very satisfied with this space-efficient and high-quality refrigerator.

    Small freezer

    Reviewed by - August 12, 2020

You loose a lot of large shelf space with this Fridge. The shelves are not very deep, half the depth of a normal size fridge. But makes up for it a little with more door space I suppose. The freezer drawer is super small, not really enough room for much of anything, and it seems the bottom drawer is tapered in at the bottom so it makes it even smaller. Other than that, I love the slate color of stainless steel, which is fingerprint resistant. But now I know next time get the full size, not counter depth. Pictures online make it seem so much bigger than it truly is.

    Nice & cold

    Reviewed by - October 17, 2024

I like the fridge, I wish I had a bigger space, I would have gotten a bigger one that’s much deeper, but, overall, after a month of use here’s my review so far, I think where the water comes out, should be revisited, you need both doors opened and 2 hands to get water, the button is very hard to press, also where the water actually comes out of is so tiny it is very cumbersome, the doors don’t shut by themselves, Im used to my old fridge doors shut by themselves with a tiny push, this fridge, I have to constantly go back to shut the doors, and lol, the ice area, I’m not sure if the ice automatically stops making ice when the bin is full, I keep getting ice falling out of the bin when I open the freezer , otherwise, it keeps my food very nice and cold, especially my beverages, and I have room inside the fridge , I used to have a side by side, I couldn’t put anything in there that was wide, I like the look of the fridge it’s clean and pretty in my kitchen.

This refrigerator is just the right size

    Reviewed by - September 7, 2020

Our new refrigerator was delivered a little over a month ago. Prior to this, we had a 23 cu ft side-by-side with water, ice cubes, and crushed ice in the door. I was a bit reticent about going down to a 17.5 cu ft French Door but this is laid out so well that we haven’t even noticed the difference. Ours is a family of three adults. The freezer really cranks out the ice, but it stops once it fills the ice tray. I would estimate about 100 filtered cubes. Perfect to pack up for a pool party with family. There is also a spigot just inside the refrigerator for filtered water. A gallon of milk will fit quite nicely either on the door or on the shelves inside. It has two crispers, one for fruits and one for vegetables and you can choose which is which or make both the same. We were amazed to discover that a head of lettuce stayed fresh and crisp for over a week. There is also a drawer for deli goods such as bacon, cheese, and lunch meat.

    It’s ok

Fridge feels like it doesn’t cool as much as my older one did. It looks really nice. The unit feels like it’s made from thinner material which is ok but I’m hoping I don’t have any longevity issues with one

It Fits Great in Smaller Spaces!

    Reviewed by - June 23, 2018

I bought this refrigerator about 2 months ago because my 22 year old refrigerator went totally out. I purchased the counter depth size since I am in an older home and my opening was only 36 inches wide. This fits great, just enough room left over on each side. Love the french doors on top. I can open both doors and fit in larger items due to the adjusting shelves. I also like that the water dispenser is inside although you have to press the button hard. The bottom freezer pulls out. It's rather small but enough room to accommodated groceries for 1 to 2 people. The ice-maker is awesome. Produces a lot of ice fast. I didn't think I would like the white color but I needed it fast and it was in stock. But I love it! It's modern and goes great with white cabinets. The only con would be is the refrigerator didn't get as cold as I was accustomed to at first because of the factory preset of 37 degrees. But I was able to easily adjust it a few degrees lower.

Was working good for 11 months

    Reviewed by - August 11, 2022

We loved our refrigerator and had it for 12 months till bottom freezer issues. Freezer fan turns on 1-5 secs and shuts off, repeats. Snow building up inside. Did unplug it and turned it on, checked and wiped down gaskets just incase, and checked anything blocking door..nothing.

    Beautiful smaller refrigerator

    Reviewed by - March 22, 2019

A great looking, smaller refrigerator for one or two people or smaller families. We wanted a counter-depth with the water dispenser inside and this refrigerator meets those requirements. Although we can fit a full size, 36" refrigerator, this one fits our small home much better. The other selling factor was that the matching GE gas stove, microwave, and dishwasher all rated high and look great (we replaced all the appliances). Our only two negatives: 1) It would be nice if the vegetable/meat drawers had wheels so that they rolled out smoothly and 2) The freezer is small, but that should be expected with a French door counter depth refrigerator.

style that fits in our kitchen and budget

    Reviewed by - January 16, 2018

We had this model GWE19JMLES delivered the 4th of Jan. 2018. It replaced a failed, 2 yr. old, more expensive counter depth fridge of a different brand so this review may seem like a comparison. The slate finish looks great and easier to clean than the stainless steel fridge we had. It fits perfect under the 33" cabinet space (the failed fridge was 36" so it was a little big in there). I do miss the larger freezer from the 36". If you have a large family, this model's freezer may be too small for you. All in all we are very happy with this GE counter depth fridge. Pros: Delivery was ontime and the installers did a professional job. The counter depth and 33 inch width is just the right size for our condo's kitchen. It runs quiet. The slate matte finish hides most fingerprints but not kids potato chip fingers and is easy to clean. The freezer is well lit. Ice maker makes lots of ice. Plenty of shelf space in the fresh food compartment. Cons: GE has no current manual for this model as of purchase date. The water dispenser operation is not one handed and the button is a little hard to push and hold. Bottom freezer basket is small. Does not come with a water filter bypass plug. The french doors do not close by themselves by gravity. They must be pushed shut to latch. Just something I need to get used to.

    Getting used to it.

    Reviewed by - June 10, 2021

So, only a few weeks in with my new fridge, so my review is based on that. First out, it was hard to manage expectations because no retailers carried this size, only the 36". It took 5 months to arrive, which was 2 months later than the original expected March delivery. It was packaged very well. Be sure to read instructions when setting up ice maker and water dispenser. Okay, I can live with delayed delivery because my old fridge was still plugging along. Wouldn't have replaced that one, except (younger) dishwasher died, and we wanted to match it with rest of appliances, and were limited to maybe three models in all brands that would fit our space for a fridge. Husband reminds me daiily the old one was bigger (was a bottom freezer, not GE). Not so sure. Yes, it was deeper. However, it was one door, which bins were shallower. So, these shelves are shallower, but I'm keeping MUCH more on the doors -- you know, the jars, bottles and such that would get lost on your shelves, I'm able to do basically 2 rows in each bin. Which means that I'm not storing as much fresh food or leftovers on the shelves. I like the fruit bin, and with summer in NJ, I'm using to store fresh fruit; ditto with the veggie bin. Like the long cheese/deli bin a lot. Don't love that all the bins are wobbly or stick when sliding. Not as nice as my 20 yo fridge. Any tips from other users to help the gliding? I like the collapsible shelf. Have used it a couple times when I put in a jug of infused water (shape didn't fit in door). Then when I was done with the pitcher I resized the shelf easily. The lighting is really helpful. Don't love that there's no butter bin -- or maybe just 50 years of being used to having one. Fortunately, I use the two narrow (hidden) door bins for lemons/limes on one door, and butters in the other. Freezer is seriously TINY. Might end up being a good thing for the two of us. I was buying a lot, and then forgetting what was in my lovely old one, because things were buried. I'm learning to be more strategic, as well as use storage bags (label them) and stack them, and remove things from their outer boxes (e.g. got a box of burgers last night, and took them out of their outer box, and they stored vertically, nicely). If you're someone who buys a lot of meats on sale at the grocery store, you'll be unhappy. Don't know what you'll do if you like frozen pizza (yuck). Freezer drawer wobbles a bit when you pull it, unlike last model, which had some more weight to it (maybe all that buried food?). Like having the internal water dispenser, which saves room on a separate filtered pitcher. It's slow, but I can deal. Unfortunately, sometimes the water dispenses warm. Any tips on how to adjust (I know, put in ice cubes, or why it's occuring? Overall, if I wasn't in fear of 20 yo fridge dying (btw, it was a giant when I got it; now that size is considered tiny), I likely would't have gone this route. Taking some adjusting, but we'll get there. Fyi, it looks very nice. Oh, and so far, stays cold overall. I do like that controls are push button and out of the way at the top of the unit. Last model was still using dials -- we could never get them right even with a separate thermometer. And where the freezer dial was located resulted in it freezer burning its contents, as well as starting to freeze over fridge contents. So far, so good. P.S. Forgot to mention the bin liners are very nice. We laughed that they reminded us of those really nice car mats that you see advertised on tv (can't say the brand here).
