Cafe wonder
- August 20, 2025This refrigerator is not very deep. There’s not a lot of storage so when we went from our old fridge to this one, it was crowded and sloppy looking. The bins are not deep enough for the vegetables either. We are used to a larger space. Otherwise, it looks nice and I will like the hot water dispenser.

Tea Lovers Rejoice
- November 14, 2024We couldn’t be happier with our Café™ ENERGY STAR® 27.7 Cu. Ft. Smart French-Door Refrigerator with Hot Water Dispenser! This refrigerator has truly transformed our kitchen experience, blending beauty and function in a way that feels both luxurious and practical. The design is stunning; we chose the brushed copper hardware, which elevates our French country kitchen with a touch of elegance and warmth. It’s a centerpiece that effortlessly complements our décor while also being incredibly user-friendly. The hot water dispenser is a game-changer for us as tea lovers. With just a touch, we have the perfect water temperature for our favorite teas, saving time and making our daily routine so much more enjoyable. The space inside is thoughtfully designed, providing ample room for all our groceries, and the smart features are a wonderful bonus that makes us feel like we’re living in the future. Stylish Counterdepth Fridge
- April 15, 2020Pretty good storage/organization inside, especially considering that it's a counterdepth fridge. It looks REALLY nice in our all-white kitchen, especially with the bronze handles. We love the ice and water dispenser, as we've never had either before, so it's great to be able to quickly dispense filtered water anytime we want it. I, for example, typically drink at least 1 or 2 32oz Nalgene bottles of water, and the bottle fills in less than 30 seconds. There's also an "ounce-counter" that displays how much water you've actually dispensed, which is kind of nice. I also like the "Open Door Alarm" that goes off if any of the doors accidentally get left open (it kind of makes putting groceries away like a little bit of a Mission:Impossible movie where you have to get the groceries in & the doors shut before the alarm goes off and the guards come running in the room...). We also like having a lock-controls button in case there are little kids running through the kitchen who might want to experiment with how fast the puddle of water can spread across the floor if they hold down the water dispenser button......... It also has WiFi, which means you can install the GE Cafe App, and then get alerts when your hot water is ready, or if the door is left open. Super cool! Regarding the ice maker, we've discovered that if you don't dispense ice for a couple of days, the ice cubes will freeze together & require the internal case to be removed & the ice cubes pushed by hand so that they will break apart & fall down into the dispenser. That's really more an "us" problem, in my opinion; if we used ice more often, then it would be readily dispensable. When we first got the fridge installed by the local company we purchased it through, our ice had little dark-gray specks of plastic??? I looked inside the ice dispenser and there was a pile of gray plastic sitting on top of the ice like it had fallen from somewhere inside the fridge. I dumped all the ice & plastic into the garbage, rinsed out the ice cube holder/dispenser equipment, dried everything off, re-installed everything, and have never had that happen again. Maybe it was just chips/FOD that were generated during the manufacturing. So far, we like this fridge. It's been in our newly-remodeled kitchen for less than a year. Quality-wise, the inside (walls, shelf holders, tubs/drawers) is all plastic. I think the shelf surfaces may be actual glass (they probably are) and maybe the shelf brackets are metal (???). We feel like the storage is really good, especially when we were originally looking for a bigger capacity fridge, but needed a counterdepth due to our kitchen size & layout. Hope this review helps you make your decision!

The worst quality control ever!
- April 16, 2022[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We decided on the Cafe line which we thought were top of the line GE appliances but unfortunately what we got was horrible attention to quality. We had them exchange our first and our second fridge as the first two were just too horribly built. We are on our third and we have had to have service come out to repair it once and are going to schedule another for the panel that got damaged when the repair guy came out. The first thing we found when we unboxed the fridge was there was tape all over that was impossible to get off without disassembling it. I wasn't going to take it apart so we had to cut the tape and just leave the ends stuck behind panels. I spent at least an hour taking things apart and taking off protective plastic. This seemed pointless because areas were still scuffed and dirty in areas. The freezer door on the first fridge would not pull all the way out without yanking so hard, the fridge would move. Same thing when you tried to close it. The drawer slide on the left side would bind near the end of the travel in either direction. There were wires pinched between the top panel and the front of the fridge. How does someone in QC miss that? There were scuffs all over the freezer drawer inserts. When I pulled them out to take the protective plastic off, there was a screw, metal chips, dirt and finger prints all over the bottom of the freezer. Our second fridge came in with a large gouge on the inside that looked like something was wedged under the left door when they opened or closed it. One of the interior lights was only half chrome plated.. the other half was still black plastic. It had the same issues as the first fridge with the freezer drawer inserts dirt, metal chips and dirty finger prints. The third fridge was the best. It was still dirty in the freezer section but overall, not as bad as the first two. The only real complaint I had was that there was tape stuck on the cold water dispenser outlet behind the clear plastic cover. It could not be removed without disassembly. We had a repair guy come out and he got the tape removed, but not without leaving pry marks and a large nick in the display bezel. I will be scheduling another visit to get that replaced. Hopefully this will be without further damage. The hot water dispenser is nice, but limited to only 10 oz. The cold water dispenser is not all that cold. I wish the ice cubes were smaller like my last LG fridge. Inside, the shelves, drawers and door bin spacing / function left a bit to be desired. Where the heck are you supposed to store eggs? A normal egg carton will not fit in the traditional spot in the door. The doors overhang the sides by a bunch so we had to keep it further away from the wall than we wanted to avoid the door hitting the counter top on one side and the wall on the other. This is a "counter depth" fridge, so this should have been taken into account when they designed it. It is unfortunate that I can only attach six pictures because I have WAY more.... but you'll get the point. That fancy copper Cafe badge on the oven handle is essentially lipstick on a pig. If you want to pay a lot for fancy looking poorest of the poor quality appliances, then the Cafe line is for you!

Nice Fridge with manufacturing challenges
- September 17, 2020I'm glad that once I had the refrigerator, it worked when plugged in and connected. The Black Matte looks nice. Functions well, and cooled within 24 hours to temp. Some manufacturing oversights found include: Extra insulation protruding on right exterior door, grease smudge inside fridge, scratch on right exterior door, hair in freezer bin. For a high end product, it doesn't appear to have good control on aesthetic issues.

Water all over the fridge, freezer, and floor
- June 9, 2017Water continues to drip from the door into the fridge, freezer, and on to the floor. This seems to be an inherit flaw in the design of the integrated hot water heater. I will not be recommending GE - even though I am a GE employee. All photos are from different days of the water leaking.

Frosty the Refrigerator
- October 17, 2023This refrigerator gets a build up of frost that no repair man can stop. We’ve had 3 different repairmen out and are still experiencing frost all over the freezer as well as along the waterline on the interior of the refrigerator portion.
