The Clash of Steel: M24 Chaffee Recon Platoon set enhances your tabletop battles with three highly detailed plastic models of the M24 Chaffee light tank. Developed to address the M3 Stuart's insufficient 37mm cannon, the M24 Chaffee was equipped with a more powerful 75mm gun, significantly improving its anti-armor capabilities. First deployed in Europe in 1944, these tanks were assigned to Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadrons, replacing the aging Stuarts. In the Clash of Steel game, the M24 Chaffee's combination of speed and firepower makes it ideal for reconnaissance missions and flanking maneuvers. Please note, the models are supplied unpainted and require assembly; tools such as clippers, glue, and paint are not included.

The development of the M24 Chaffee can trace its origins back to feedback from British forces fighting in the desert and their experience with the M3 Stuart. The Stuartâs 37mm cannon lacked the power to knock out early Panzers with rounds âbouncing off like marblesâ.

The first M24s arrived in Europe in 1944 and were issued to Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadrons as a replacement for their aging Stuart tanks.
