What customers are saying

The fragrance is described as a rich, musky scent with floral notes that is well-suited for mature users. Many customers find it to be a sophisticated, long-lasting scent that receives compliments, though some younger users consider it too strong. While the majority of reviews are positive, some customers are disappointed with a recent reformulation that they claim has changed the scent and reduced its longevity.

    It's quite nice but...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I personally don't like this fragrance. For me, the scent is quite musky so I think it's more suited for mature aged women rather than for young adults like me. On the other hand, because it does leaves a mature scent on me, I only wear it to work so people have an impression that I'm a mature and responsible person. It does have that strong long-lasting smell which is good. When you spray it, it doesn't leave your skin dripping wet and it's fast absorbent which I really love. The packaging is pretty cute too, however it's quite bulky when you try to put it in your purse or makeup bag.

    An old favourite

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love my perfumes and this one is no exception. I have been using Red Door on and off for years. My favourite colour is red, so that helps. Red Door has been around for so long. It is an old classic that many women know and love, but maybe the younger generation aren't too familiar with. I like that it has a sexy, exotic, floral scent and can be worn by most mature women and it makes you feel quite feminine. It is quite a distinctive scent, but not too overpowering fragrance, that you instantly recognise. It's also great value, worth its money.

    Too mature

    Reviewed by - September 18, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love, love, love Elizabeth Arden but this perfume wasn't for me. The only way I can describe it is as one of those typical grandma perfumes, and not the nice-smelling one. It just smelt a little too strong and more mature (way more mature than expected). I ended up giving it to my mum and she really likes it. Every now and then I can tell she is wearing it because I can smell it before I see her leaving her room. I wouldn't recommend this for younger girls (those in their 20s and below) because it can come across as a little too much.

This is one of my favourite fragrances, it reminds me of my mom and grandma and nowadays I use it as well, I usually spray some on me when feeling nostalgic.

    an old favourite

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I first started using the Red Door fragrance in the earliy 90s, when it had just been launched. Since then I have gone through several bottles. Recently the bottle has had a minor makeover, which looks fantastic. Unlike many of the other Elizabet Arden Fragrances, the Red Door lasts all day without a problem. It has a spicy and heavier scent, which I do not find suitable for younger girls, but is better suitable for a more mature woman. Its been a favourite for decades now, and will continue to be so.

    A surprising Re-Find

    Reviewed by - April 5, 2013

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My mother has worn Red Door for as long as I can remember so I always associated the scent with something a bit older than where I wanted to be. Now, I get it - it's a perfume that smells slightly different on different people so when the scent wafts over from her, it smells comfortable, dependable. When I wear it, it smells bright and warm. It could be simply that I associate the scent differently, but I tried it a few months back, then again two weeks ago and have just bought a big bottle for use in my weekly rotation (along with Allure and Fantasy depending on my mood). It's feminine enough to wear at work and not be overpowering, but bold enough to feel seductive and dangerous. No wonder Elizabeth Arden has had it in their range for so many years!

    Classic

    Reviewed by - October 14, 2016

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I first bought a bottle of Red Door when it first came out in the 80s and I loved it then. In fact I still have a bottle of the old Red Door in my perfume draw and wear it occasionally. But I thought I'd try the new improved Red Door to compare the two so I spritzed it all over. To be honest I can't tell the difference between the old and the new - they smell the same to me. It still has that rich musky rosy smell I've come to know and love. It's quite a heavy, almost woodsy fragrance to me - a little spray is really enough to go through the whole day. It's great for night times and winter as it's warm and sensual. But I really think revamped and all this is still a fragrance that would most appeal to my age group of 40+. Still it takes me back to my youth and I'll always have a soft spot for this scent.

    Mum's signature scent..

    Reviewed by - February 16, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My mum has been wearing this perfume for many years, and it is a staple in her Christmas presents each year. The perfume has a rich musky fragrance with hints of rose. I find the perfume very harsh and woody, it personally does not suit me but it suits my mum and it has definitely become her signature scent. The perfume has good sillage and longevity. I would recommend it for more mature ladies who enjoy the warm musky tones of perfume.

    Timeless

    Reviewed by - November 16, 2013

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a favourite for my mum. I enjoy the classic smell of it which is instantly recognised as Red Door. It is feminine and more mature as it is an heavier scent but not in a bad way. It is great for special occasions due to it being a bit heavier but I think it is nice for the day too. I have started using Red Door on special events to mix things up from my usual fruity or floral scents. I think this scent is timeless and everyone knows it or will know it.
