    An upgrade/update worth the cost!

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - August 11, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I replaced an older Garmin Nuvi 54 with the Garmin Drivesmart 66. Being able to transfer and edit older favorates was a plus. The 6" screen enhances the view. A Blue Tooth connection and access to my cellphone and voice activation is a plus. I got tired of suction cups and with with a spring-locked Dash Mount with a 3M Tape Sticky. I added a storage case as well. A couple of trips around town. A 3 hr road trip tomorrow should verify somethings.

    Drive 66

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - November 21, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Garmin DriveSmart 66 is a strong U.S. navigation device with a bright 6″ display, clear guidance, and reliable routing even in areas without cell service. It includes hands-free calling, voice assist, and lifetime U.S. maps, plus live traffic, fuel prices, and weather when paired with a smartphone. The larger screen makes directions easy to read, and setup is simple. However, the voice command system can be inconsistent, and some rural or newly developed roads may lack detail compared to smartphone apps. Still, for drivers wanting a dependable, distraction-free GPS with modern conveniences, the DriveSmart 66 is an excellent choice.

Its a shame you abandon legacy items you sell despite item are still working you just give up to throw it as garbage. Would it be better if you adopted something to interface connections to be backward compatible with legacy equipment. My BC 30 still works but my Garrmin GPS wouldnt update - so bought a new GPS but it doesnt work with the BC 30, equipment, shame on your company! its the way you support the "Throw Away" society - well old people don't have all the money you have so we make it as best as we can with things we already have making it lasts until it is no longer functional, shame you used to be a very good company! what happened to GARMIN?

    Much better satellite pickup

    Reviewed by - May 24, 2022

I was having trouble with old GPS (Garmin Pilot - lasted a long time!) so I got the Garmin Dive Smart 66. It's really good. Picks up satellites much better than the old models in bad weather although there is some interference even with this one. The map is really a big help in an unfamiliar city. It specifies the streets, etc. saving a lot of searching for street signs. The one thing I have fault with is that sometimes the touch screen does not respond to instructions when touching the menu. You have to pull over - if you can - to hold the unit and fool around with it to get what you need. This could be bothersome.

No issues so far. About a month in

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - September 19, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have enjoyed this item so far. I use it daily around my city. I didn't find the set up to be complicated on my pc but did need to download software. I will be testing this on a longer drive in the upcoming weeks, but so far, I have not had any issues. Many complain about the part that attaches the unit to a window. I personally haven't had issues with it sticking, however, am going to get a backup stand for future use. Love the product and it allows me not not need a phone for navigation. It does feel a bit lighter than expected. Some might say cheap feeling. However, the device is straight forward and probably doesn't need a massive amount to function. No qualms.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Garmin DriveSmart 66 has the best overall. It has the best-in-class directions, points-of-interest data, driver alerts, and free map updates with the best multi-touch display. Did you know if your accustomed to using you phones GPS and use you lose cell coverage, you also lose GPS. That’s why purchasing Garmin GPS is a must. Imagine trying to find a location and losing cell phone coverage. With Garmin it’s uses Satellites, which mean it’s extremely unlikely your are going to lose GPS coverage.

    Software update makes it unusable

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - January 24, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It sucks pretty sure it’s the software update. My mom bought the exact same one six months ago works amazing so I bought one. It was crap wouldn’t work at all. I thought maybe it was faulty so I took it back week later. They sent me a brand new one exact same problem does not work. I’m thinking it’s a software update because my mom has an updated her since she got it. Hers works fine. I would never buy it again. I wasted $200 on this thing and there’s nothing I can do about it.

I do not recommend purchase of Garmin Drivesmart 6

    Reviewed by - December 16, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Much worse than any other Garmin I have ever had. The wake-up phrase CANNOT BE CHANGED so it will be different on this device than any of my others. The process of making a telephone call using bluetooth connectivity between my iphone and this new Garmin is entirely different from previous Garmin automotive devices I have owned and much more cumbersome. I was told that this device would connect directly with my home network for purposes of updating maps. I have not been able to do so but am forced to still use Garmin Express for this purpose. This new device has been an exercise in frustration. I recommend against buying it. I will be returning it to Best Buy tomorrow.

DriveSmart 66- Very Good add-on GPS

    Reviewed by - June 3, 2022

The DriveSmart66 is a very good add-on GPS unit. The screen is bright and clear. The menus are easy to navigate. The provided mount is also very good. I was disappointed, however, that it is set-up only for streaming from a smart phone. It does not have an internal music player capable of playing music stored in memory or on the SD card. There does not appear to be a way to install such a player. Such a feature should be expected on such a high-end device to give the user more versatility. One star off for this reason. Other than this, the unit does everything you would expect and does it very well.
