So far the vent has been working well. I replaced the included halogen light bulbs with LED type to keep from heating up while in use. Unit shakes a little at high and boost settings. I even secured unit with extra washers at the screw points. One thing I was concerned with is that the vent fan is situated on one side of the unit. Right above the left venting filter. The right side seems to not have as good venting because the fan is closed off on the left. So only the left sucks up smog/steam/heat efficiently. The right side vent filter is more like esthetic than function. Not sure if GE has a fix for this.

I swapped my over the stove GE microwave with the GE Range Hood (JVX5300SJSS). The box said it only takes 10 minutes to install- more like 3 hours with the help of a second person (my wife). The item does not come with a power supply; you'll need to purchase one separately. But after getting the necessary extra parts and lining up the vent, the hood does it's job fantastically!! It's also very easy to clean. My suggestion for anybody looking to replace or add this appliance to their kitchen check all the prep work you have to do before taking on this task. Now off to installing a backsplash....

Only 50% of the fan exhaust if functioning. The second half if malfunctioning . Review will be updated once it is fixed

This hood was the final piece of our new kitchen. The charcoal filter eliminates cooking odors which is hidden behind the grease filter. The two light settings is great for cooking and on low setting puts that nice accent on our slate colored GE stove. My wife is short and we purchased a remote control that is remote control ready for that my wife can control the fan and lights. Great job GE on this hood.

The stainless steel design looks fantastic. Installation wasn’t that bad. You definitely need 2 people to install it. The front control buttons are easily accessible and simple to use. The suction of the vent is strong and powerful, and keeps the view of steaming pots very clear. The overhead lighting is excellent. It covers and illuminates the entire stovetop. I highly recommend this product.

So far we have been very pleased with this hood. Gets rid of the steam and smoke very well (it is vented to the outside) and is very stylish. Is relatively quiet and fits in with our other GE Slate appliances. Only thing I noticed that does not work well is the boost option. It works beautifully on low, medium and high but when you turn on the boost option it starts to shudder and vibrate like something on the fan is out of balance. High has always been enough to clear the steam and smoke so we never fret about not using the boost option and it does not vibrate or shudder on high. Very pleased with the product overall. Only reason it's not 5 star is because the boost option does not work as smooth as the other levels.

I’m a New Orleans girl, cooking is in my soul. My stove is my soulmate. Love straight from my heart is in every meal. My new hood with lighting on each side, allows me to see what’s going in the pots. I see the very first bubble when my roux begins to simmer. No more accidentally “blackened meats.” When thing get a little too hot, I can quickly cool them down with my 3 speed fan. If I did need to clear some smoke, the vent sucks it right out! Now my meals are intentional, absolutely delicious.

Fairly easy installation, we did attach the optional vent cap for the recirculation on the outer hood to direct all air to roof vent. Like 2 stage lights & 3 fan settings. It was a perfect fit for 30" space over my GE Range. Looks and works great. It took 2 of us an hour. We used longer stainless screws instead of the provided short screws. The most time was just pulling the protective film off.

This range hood is beautiful. It's got two light settings. One is high and one is low which is great. You can kind of use it as a night light. And then there are three settings for the fan. The lights are gorgeous and the fan is very quiet. It did take almost 2 hours to install just because we had to adjust a few things. I would highly recommend this.

This is an attractive range hood that compliments our kitchens accoutrements well but, I was left wondering why the hoods blower was designed on the left side. Our GE stove has the "power boil burner" on the right side, which is the primary burner we use, so when cooking the blower is not as effective as it is on the left side of the stove top. They should consider a center or dual blower design to accommodate the entire stove top. The installation took more then 10 minutes (about 1 1/2 hrs) as I had to add wooden slats under the cabinet to secure the range hood properly. Once the wooden slats were installed, the hood install went quickly.
