  • 8 speeds is overkill but great fan

5 speeds is enough. My only wish is for up AND down buttons on the remote to set the speed. It is annoying to cylce through all the speeds until you get to the one you want. If you can't see the display (you're across the room or laying on the couch, it is really hard not to go through all the speeds once or twice until you get it right.

  • Great fan so long as you don't get a lemon!

I own two older Honeywell QuietSet tower fans and they are great. This new "slimmer" model fixes many of the flaws with the older unit -- the newer unit remembers which fan level it was set to before you turn it off. So, if you were on fan level 5, turn off the fan, when you turn it back on, you are at level 5. Also, I like how the light display can be dimmed or turned off completely. Overall, the Honeywell QuietSet is a great fan with a powerful, cool breeze. My only compliant is the quality control with Honeywell -- my first unit one of the fan level LED did not light up out of the box. I exchanged it no problem at Best Buy, but the 2nd unit was louder and wasn't as quiet as the first unit. In conclusion, this is great fan *IF* you get a unit that doesn't have any manufacturing defects.

It’s quiet but really doesn’t do much for cooling things down.
