  • Quiet, cold, small fridge part, stinky drip tray screwed in

from Vancouver BC on September 16, 2019

The comments on the dents were interesting, as I had none, and I noted significant use of styrofoam buffer sheets, and any cuts or gashes in the cardboard would have had to be really heavy to damage the inside. The light inside was important over other fridges without. It looks good, super quiet, since I sleep right beside it 3-feet away, the computer fan makes more noise. It does make some gurgling sounds, but that's it. The freezer is great, fits 12" frozen pizzas and ice cream, and hasn't made ice on the bottom of the freezer compartment in 2 weeks. It is a huge plus over the metal tray and cheap plastic flap things that are in most small apartment-style fridges. The fridge part is definitely smaller than I expected because of the larger freezer part. I could put a 4-litre milk in on its side on the top, leaving very little room for other things. I use 2-litre jugs now, so now two or 3 2-litre milk/juice/water things fit. The bottom can holder can take glass beer bottles and the door still closes, which is good. The milk froze in the back at setting 6, so I knocked it down to 5, but that makes the ice cream a bit softer than I like. So, stick it in the door I guess. Two weeks in, the room reeked of a rotten cheese-like smell. After several days, I finally tracked it down to the back bottom of the fridge where there was a little black 3" x 5" black plastic drip tray full of white crap and maggots. Yuck. That wasn't the worst of it, this thing is screwed on with two philips-head screws, the back one right over the compressor, VERY difficult to get off. I used a drill-bit style Philips head screw and was lucky I could unscrew it by hand. Super crappy design. None of the guides had pictures or mentioned this drip tray. Most fridges have much larger removable trays. The adjusting foot I had to use a large wrench to loosen, and it works well to level the thing. The fridge was far lighter than I imagined, going up the stairs with one hand lifting it was not difficult. I stacked a large microwave and toaster oven on top, no dents in the metal, so it can take some weight. The door magnets are fairly strong. Often I jam-pack it with food and force-close it and it stays shut. The bottom plastic drawer is pretty cheesy and loose and small. The back half is taken up by the compressor underneath so you can fit a few oranges/apples in there but not much else. The ice cube tray is hilarious. The teeny-tiny ice cubes you need to eat quick because white frost grows on top.
