    Wow

I had these sitting in the box for a couple of days and wasn't sure if I should just return them as I bought them on a whim....Finally took them out and connected to it from my laptop easily. Now mind you I also have a cheap sub connected to it and I have sound treatment on the walls as I take my music seriously...but I put on my usual test music of Supertramp and I'm simply blown away by the sound quality. I literally have goosebumps right now. The sound is clear, the highs are not overbearingly annoying, the bass stands out (even without the sub) and is not overbearing and vibrating throughout the room, just incredibly wide sound. Its hard to believe from a speaker so small. These are staying put and I plan on adding the matching sub as soon as possible.

    Kanto Yu speakers

Reviewed by Real Review - December 13, 2020

I have had these little speakers for a few weeks now, and they are fantastic. I read Hifi's review and realized how people that do not know what they are talking about can dissuade a consumer of a great purchase. Better sound stage ahhh yeah, but perhaps you should elaborate on sound stage.... He compares these to the Sound Blasterx katana soundbar.... Please people when reviewing products compare apples to apples.... The Kanto Yu speakers are STEREO speakers and do NOT come with a subwoofer. They are exceptional stereo speakers in a very classy small enclosure... (With no LED lights) They do however have a subwoofer out port so that you may add the subwoofer if you so desire. These speakers make great studio monitors as they run a flat response by default, but also have a built in EQ that you can adjust via the remote to enhance your bass and treble. If massive bass is what you desire add the subwoofer and be prepared to be blown away. They are great speakers and Canadian made to boot. They cannot be compared to a 2.1 setup until you add the subwoofer....

    Great Desktop Speakers

Purchased as computer speakers and am extremely satisfied, the clarity is exceptional! I you are someone who loves bass I would recommend buying the matching sub, however these speakers do play bass notes well especially listening to music at moderate levels. They get really loud, I haven't even reached the top end of the volume. Soundstage is exceptional and music sounds really natural. Make sure you have your streaming quality set to the highest setting and you are ready to rock!

    For use as PC speakers

I've had these for a few days now and they're not even broken in yet. I'm pleased with the sound and the nice sale price. These YU speakers are cut down Yu4's and you only give up extra input options and cabinet colour options for half the price. Pros - Price on sale, styling, sound great with a quality input source. Cons - it takes so long for them to wake up from sleep mode that i start troubleshooting the issue. Seriously 7 or 8 seconds to wake them up. Also, id rather any other colour than this bbq black. If you get these for a computer then you may need a 3.5mm to RCA splitter to work. However, If you don't have a good soundcard or external DAC then get speakers with a digital USB input instead. I bought these to replace my aging Audioengine A2 speakers, but i have a nice external DAC to feed these. 4" inch woofer size plays 'some' lows, but still needs a subwoofer. I'll be ordering their sub 8, which is also on sale right now.

The two one star reviewers have no idea what they're talking about. after about 4 hours of break in the highs become very clear without sounding harsh to the ears. These speakers pack a punch, way more bass than I was expecting for a set of 4" speakers. that being said, a subwoofer upgrade would

These are great set of speakers. However placement of speakers is crucial for quality sound. They are back ported we should ensure they are placed atleast 2 to 3 feed away from wall. I will recommend this product if you are looking good quality speakers.

    Good Value / Premium Sound

    Reviewed by CanRock - March 18, 2021

I am using these with a mac mini and have a 5” PSB mini sub hooked into them which was the reason I bought these speakers, for the sub out. Sound is crisp and clear, whether playing music or watching video. I use VLC as my player for both, utilizing the equalizer from VLC to tweak the sound to my liking (not the speaker eq). The mini sub nicely augments the bass for a little extra omph. Sub not required, but I prefer with. These speakers are more than powerful enought to fill a 10’ x 10’ room, distortion free when setup correctly. Mainly use direct hookup but bluetooth works well. I recommend using the K4 stands for desktop use. 4.5 stars due to the extended delay from powering up from standby mode. Highly recommend these YU speakers from a Canadian company.

    Great Bang For The Buck

    Reviewed by GM - March 17, 2022

I bought these when they were on sale but do recommend two things ... buy the stands from Kanto / Yu (or Amazon) so you hear what you should hear in terms of mid/highs and get a powered subwoofer to deliver the bass. They are good without, but the sound quality with a powered sub will BLOW YOU AWAY. I wanted a 2.1 system that would have a great range from lows-mid and highs and once I added the subwoofer (8" powered sub) made a world of difference and sits right under my desk. Great that they also have bluetooth connectivity so can play other devices like phone/tablet with the speakers and still be connected thru 3.5mm input on the computer/laptop. Only negative is the fact they have the energy save mode which means if using for Zoom calls you have to power up with audio before you start the call otherwise have to wait for the speakers to "wake up".
