Perfect size & ports suitable for a home office

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - July 9, 2021

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) The dimensions are perfect for my home office. Contains all the ports necessary to connect my 2 monitors, keyboard, mouse and headphones. Been using it for a week now, and haven’t seen any issues except the base gets hot by the end of the day. I am not sure if this is normal as I owned a previous Lenovo standard dock and heating was not an issue on that one.

A must have for laptop computers

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - January 17, 2021

I bought this fow my home office and it works great. I have the gen 1 at the office and the biggest difference I noticed is the red stripe on the gen 2. I really wish these had 2xHDMI instead of display ports for the external monitors and a longer USB C cable for plugging the computer. I have a lenovo T480s and P52s and both work great.

    not really a dock

    Reviewed by - August 13, 2020

All in all, not impressed, but there's no real alternative: I am able to connect 3 external monitors to it, but like many other reviewers I experience the issue with it refusing to wake the system properly after sleep. the ethernet port fails consistently after a few minutes of usage with "the last usb device connected malfunctioned" error. So I'm forced to use a USB-to-ethernet dongle directly into the laptop. it won't reliably charge a Thinkpad P1-gen2, so the laptop is separately plugged in... The dock has the monitors, mouse and keyboard. But it's not really a dock; docking/undocking means replacing/pulling 3 fiddly cables.

Promising, but fell short of expectations

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - July 14, 2020

Promising, sleek dock but it didn't work with my brand new Yoga C940 (14"). I was really looking forward to the convenience of USB C and Thunderbolt to solve all my expansion requirements but there was one really nagging issue. When extending my desktop with a Dell UltraSharp monitor, this dock could never wake up the monitor after the computer was in sleep mode. The only solution was to unplug and plug the cable each time, which is infuriating. Sounds like a minor inconvenience but it gets tiring real fast. So, my only solution in the end was to dust off the old USB 3.0 dock, which worked flawlessly, with this new computer and the previous Yoga.

Value reduced by poor laptop design

    Reviewed by - September 14, 2020

I went with this Dock for over 10 T-series I've bought in the last few years. The single USB-C cable, seems at time an elegant solution comparing to the traditional bulkier dock, has costed me two laptops. 2 of my users have broken one of the two USB-C port due to frequent connect and disconnect from their computer. To make things worse, for some reason, once the port is broken, the laptops were no longer able to connect to external display. You can blame the users for not being careful, but the laptop is not designed to connect to a dock via just one USB-C cable. The connection is just not stable enough.

    a little disappointed in dependability

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - September 13, 2020

I purchased the SUB C Dock Gen 2 to act as a 'docking station' for my Lenovo Carbon X1. I tend to unplug often to travel, or move to another room or even just to stand. It does accept all the periphal plug ins I need (mouse, key board, 'external monitor', microphone, and light. Unfortunately, the Dock causes intermittent pauses for my key board as well as additional Monitor. I've tried ensuring every plug in (USB, power, HDMI) is solidly connected but this does not seem to make a difference. Shame.

Good Dock, Verify Cables and Resolution First

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - July 23, 2021

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) This is a solid dock that is stable and has never failed. It has 2 display ports and 1 HDMI...which is a bit frustrating, because I bought two Lenovo monitors that each came with HDMI cables, so I had to order cables separately (I guess I should have looked closer at the specs). Also, I have a 2020 Carbon X1, but apparently it can't drive 2 monitors at 2K through this dock...so one is stuck at HD. Other than these quibbles, it does the job, is compact, and has enough USB B and C ports for my needs

Stopped working after Lenovo firmware update

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - July 3, 2021

This worked with my Lenovo T14 right out of the box. However, Lenovo pushed out a firmware update (ThinkPad USB-C Dock Gen2 FW Package - 7/10 [64] - 1.0.8.03231) that immediately caused my two external monitors to no longer work with the docking station. This was unbelievably frustrating, especially since it was working just fine before the firmware was installed. Upon searching Lenovo forums, this issue seems to be common, and Lenovo has not done anything to resolve it.

    not worth it at all

    Reviewed by - March 12, 2021

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) This Dock is really annoying. every time my laptop goes to sleep I have to unplug and replug the USB-C otherwise it does not send a signal to my external monitor. I have contacted technical support and they suggested me to contact Microsoft!! Come on! I was using the Lenovo mini dock before and I had no issues. This issue is extremely annoying since every time the computer re-start of the screen shuts down, I will be forced to unplug and replug the USB-C.
