Big picture in small spaces.
- January 29, 2021[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Disclaimer: This is the only projector I have owned. I’m building a dedicated theater room and this was perfect for my space. Great picture quality, really bright and looks decent in semi lit room (with UST screen). The picture quality is outstanding in a dark room. Manufacturer claims true: 120” screen when projector is 7” from screen! Seems well built and looks really good. Using external speakers, but internal would be fine for average size living room. My only gripe is the built in fans seem loud but not noticeable during most movies. Also white is a strange choice of color for a theater projector. Assuming that was a fashion over function decision. Review photos show picture quality and color in various lighting scenarios.

Pictures on LG.COM deceive regarding installation
- April 15, 2020[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The attached pictures from lg.com show the HU85LA being used with little or no vertical distance from the top of the projector to the bottom of the screen. This is impossible to achieve because the owner's manual requires this distance "C" to be 7.1" for a 90" image and 10.1" for a 120" image. I discovered this from a user's installation video on another website after ordering the HU85LA from lg.com. It is unfortunate to be misled by the company's product page. I returned the unit unopened.

Very nice projector but
- August 31, 2020Purchased the HU85LA just under one year ago. I am using it on a high quality 120" light canceling screen made for laser projectors in my home theater. The projector is simple to set up and does not require distance more than 14" from the screen. No shadow puppets when people get up. Picture quality was very good comparable to a 4k LED but after 11-1/2 months it has developed a giant yellow patch of light in the center of the screen and blue tinting to the right of center. So here comes the test lets see how good LG does at resolving the issue on one of their most expensive projectors.

Amazing theatre screen
- December 9, 2022[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really enjoy this thing! It’s amazing and looks great. Bought it open box for a crazy crazy discount, not sure I would pay over 5k for it but it’s amazing nonetheless

Great project, easy to use
- August 6, 2021[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've only used this projector a few times. And it's very easy to adjust to the screen or wall when you are moving it around from place to place. The only PROBLEM I've encountered, is if you decide to use it on a movie screen outside on a windy day. Forget it. Due to the fact the placement of the projector is at the bottom of the screen, the image will move around on the screen making everytimes stretch out and look distorted. So you have to find a screen that doesn't move due to normal wind in your outside yard or place your screen against a wall outside. If not you will differently not enjoy your movie viewing experience.

Seeing is Believing!
- March 18, 2024[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is definitely the UST projector you want for a dedicated Home Theater in your home. If you want to optimize the full capability and amazing picture that this projector has to offer, make sure you only let the pros from the Geek Squad that truly know USTs and the precise install and setup that is needed and you will be completely satisfied. The picture for this LG UST is incredible, whether streaming or using an over air HD antenna to watch NFL/College football games on Fox, CBS, ABC, or NBC. Definitely recommend, you will love it!

Stunning Images
- September 8, 2021This projector produces amazing images right out of the box. Yes, it does require some effort to get it aligned properly to the screen, but it's an extremely high resolution, digital laser projector with an incredibly short throw, so that's to be expected. Other comments I've seen regarding focus issues at the edges of larger screens is not due to the projector, it simply requires that the screen be completely flat, also to be expected of a high performance laser like this one. The speakers are a bit weak, but I don't know anyone buying a high-end projector like this who isn't going to pair it with a comparable audio system ... all in all an absolutely amazing projector - buy it, you won't be sorry!

Great at first, 1 yr and 3 months later :(
- December 13, 2022It is a great 4K laser project on it's face value. It was not the cheapest option when I bought it but it has some really nice options. Unfortunately, just barely after the warrantee expired, pixels started dying off. First one, a month later another, another month another dead pixel. These are very bright-white spots that glow like bright stars on any darker screen images. Impossible to mentally tune out especially considering the price tag on this thing. I've looked at the repair cost, and I can buy another laser projector brand new at the cost of these repairs. I'm really disappointed in LG quality. This isn't the first LG problem I've been through. I'd thought I'd have learned my lesson by now

Excellent picture....several usability issues.
- May 24, 2020This is an excellent projector when combined with a high quality screen. However it was several glaring faults. 1. You can not cast to it. 2. No Disney plus app. 3. No YouTube tv. 4. Very stupid box stays on the screen saying "no signal detected" which ruins a beautiful screen saver.

Best UST Projector available
- February 13, 2020[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I first purchased the less expensive brands. They had edge warping issues and central focus with extremely fuzzy edges. I finally purchased the HU85 and all those issues are gone. This is brighter, sharper and smarter than the others. I have it coupled with an XY ALR PET Crystal at 110" and it is leaps and bounds better. It is comparable with my 65" Samsung 4K except the HDR 4K videos resemble OLED motion. The image is not as vibrant as a LED or OLED in the daytime, but, 110" at night with a movie or Netflix destroys any TV. For daytime use with the ALR screen and casual viewing it is perfectly fine as i dont watch meaningful content during the day, if i do i just draw the blinds and instant home theater.
