    Amazing collector's item

    Reviewed by - March 22, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I will start with saying that my opinion is going to be somewhat bias. I am a die-hard Mass Effect fan. I would probably buy a dirty toilet bowl if it came from the Bioware studio building and would love it as if it were my child. However, I can certainly say that the Nomad Remote Control vehicle is far better than a Bioware toilet, and the app is usable at the very least. I had no issues the very first time syncing the car up with the app (the Nomad puts out a wi-fi signal, and you connect your device to that wi-fi and then you open the app and push the "connect" button and TA-DA! The car is ready to be controlled, with extra features on the top of the screen (light controls, camera video/picture controls). The brake lights light up when the car is charging, and they turn off when they are done charging. This car has some good weight to it as well and is made out of some very durable, semi-glossy plastic, so it does not feel cheap or flimsy at all. The car is very clean and has enough detail to match up well to the in-game version of the Nomad. Not only do the front wheels turn for steering, but the 2nd rear axle (yes, there are two sets of rear axles) also turn the wheels in the opposite direction for much better steering support I will say that the vehicle does get around a little faster than I expected. It's also a little bit bigger than I expected too, but then again, I was comparing the 1:18 scale to model cars you can buy at a 1:18 scale, and the Nomad is certainly a larger vehicle than a typical car (even though I keep referring to the Nomad as a "car" in this review). The steel case is a plane-white on the entire outside cover, but if you open it, you will get a simple picture of the Nomad racing across what looks like a desert terrain. The box the entire items come in is very clean and certainly has an upper-end feel to it. On a side note, the reading material included with this item suggests that this item is not really meant for children; it points out that this vehicle is only intended for casual indoor use and it also suggests that you should avoid driving it through water, ice, dirt, sand, or mud and also does not recommend any jumps with the vehicle either. I feel that since the majority of buyers will be adults, these suggestions will probably be within your intended realm of usage anyway. Overall, I feel this is a beautiful addition to anyone's collection and also has a little fun built into it as well with the remote control features. I think the $200 price is a little steep, but then again, Gears of War 4 collector's edition was $250: sure, it came with the game disc, but it also came with a stationary statue that did nothing other than look good. So on the flip side, this Nomad not only looks GREAT, but also has some novel features.

    Got bored after 2 days

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - May 19, 2018

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this during a daily deal. It was good to play with after 2 days but got bored after and had to return it. It’s cool that it has a camera and when I was playing with it in a parking garage, I was driving it under cars and could see under them. There are LED lights on the front (4 total) but are pretty weak and couldn’t see anything through the camera when in a dark area. Range of the WiFi is decent since it could go far but response was lagging. When you turn it takes milliseconds to respond but delayed enough to get annoying since it’s delayed when turning (was crashing all the time)! It has some speed when going straight, but again turning was bothersome.

    Bigtime fun for my cat

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - May 14, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a Mass Effect fan, I thought the Nomad ND1 would be a great entry level remote control vehicle. So far, it has lived up to being exactly what I wanted. The controls take some getting use to for someone who never plays games on their iPhone. No remote control is included so you use your phone after downloading the app. I have only used it inside the house to entertain my cat as well as myself, but it can really move! Once it drys up outside, I will have a much better opportunity to see how well it operates outside of carpet and wood floors.

A fun little collectible for Mass Effect fans.

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - April 26, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The build quality of the vehicle and box it comes in are incredible compared to some collector's editions I've acquired recently. The app to control the vehicle is interesting, but lacking and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. The camera feels like it is a full second or more behind with lag, and the controls are less, but still present. All the details on the Nomad itself are in my opinion, very faithfully recreated. If Mass Effect 1 had offered the Mako in similar quality, functionality, and price, I would have bought that too.

    Amazing!

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - February 23, 2018

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] At first i was alittle suspicious about this R/C until i purchased one myself. It was worth it! I love it and so does my son. We have tons of fun. The R/C takes a bit yo get used to but you'll be a pro in a few minutes after practice. The camera makes it fun to sneak up on our cats and surprise them or take videos of our adventures outside. Everything is phone operated so don't worry about batteries. It actually takes off pretty fast and has speed. Just be careful you don't ram it into a tree!

    Cool Gadget

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - June 21, 2018

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this as a gift for my nephew who is 8. On sale it was a good purchase. Super cool operation from your smart device through the app. Great pictures and video from the internal cam. The only reason I can’t give it 5 stars is the the RC itself kept getting stuck in normal grass... on road/off road non problem but once this bad boy wound up on the green stuff, I found myself going over to help it out. Other than that and buying it on sale... super cool.

    Cool collectable but didn't operate.

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - May 25, 2018

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this as a deal of the day. I was super excited when I went to pick it up and was giddy as I opened it. It turned right on and paired to my phone flawlessly, but when I went to drive the forward and reverse function didn't work. The vehicle would steer and the lights would work but no drive function. I ended up returning it. I didn't want to take a chance on getting another one that was broken.

    I like it!

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - April 23, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a pretty fun RC car. The app gives you control over several of the cars different functions. I really like the camera feature. One of the best things is the built in rechargeable battery. No more runs to the store for batteries. Battery life and recharge times are as expected. It's a little pricey but it has a lot of cool things other RC cars don't generally have. i recommend picking it up.

    Exceeded my expectations

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - June 19, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was weary of the negative reviews but I'm glad I went ahead and ordered this. It exceeded expectations on all levels. The app is awesome. On iOS the camera saves directly to the phone so you can airplay it immediately. Quality is pretty good and have had no issues with control, video playback or sensitivity with the app.
