So far so good.... Pros: Waterproofing seems to work well, flashlights are handy to have especially the red light for astronomy...good audio...emergency call feature works as advertised...seems durable for mild drops as I have already dropped them from about a metre...range to be expected about 200-500 metres in a built up area with lots of obstructions...good value for the money Cons: For some reason transmitting is delayed so don't speak for about three seconds. Not sure why this is so...battery performance with stock battery is ok but not great. Probably will get the extended life battery...

Sound is good and operation is easy. Works very well for what it is meant for. People should be happy with this product as long as they keep in mind these are not cell phones or powerful two way radios one needs a license to operate. They are for short distance quick communication for recreation or emergencies and they do that very well. I would give them a 5 star rating but I think their advertised distance is a bit of a scam so I penalized them one star. Those claimed distances are under absolute Ideal circumstances and not even close to reality in normal land based communication.

I tested this radio with two of the older w/t I own. What I did not like is this radio does not have transmit LED and the display does not light up when transiting. So it is hard to use in dark, I tested this radio in campground and while reception and sound quality was excellent the reception at other end was not. I did not try to find out why. The manufacturer say the radio will float with included battery pack but the radio will work longer with 3 1900 mA AA rechargeable NiMH battery cells that can be charged in the radio without removing them. I am not finished looking for the radio I like.

My experience with these walkies has been in the context of my workplace which is a busy commercial vegetable farm. Our team uses these devices on a daily basis in the field from May to October. We've found that they hold up to exposure to water very well (no issues whatsoever there) and even after having been half-melted or slightly crushed by machinery they still perform their basic functions as needed. My only issue is that we opted for these units over much less expensive models because we wanted more than a single season of use out of them. That being said, we're already looking to replace several as their batteries either no longer hold a charge or their chargers no longer effectively charge the battery as we would expect. That being said, realistically we know that most electronic devices used as often as these are won't last forever and considering the rigours of farm work they certainly put in their dues.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I finally found walkie talkies that work from my house to my moms house, 1 mile away.. Many houses between us as we live in the city. These Motorola walkie talkies are awesome! Ive gone through 5 different walkie talkies that claim to work in the city and DO NOT. I finally found these.. the first walkie talkies that actually work while inside both houses. There's a fire station in the middle and 7 blocks of houses. Top of the line cobras don't work that are 3 times the price of these. These are crystal clear at a mile away. Also, work while driving 2 miles apart. May work further, that's just when I stopped testing them.

Excellent quality, As I expected from a MOTOROLA product. I am confident that my new radios will last years of use just like my other units. My MJ270R which I purchased back in 2010 is still alive and kicking and still look new after 12 years. Just like the other brand, I also have a cobra. The battery life doesn't last as long as the units that I have. Then again you can always use double A batteries or buy a new one. About its range, me and my son tested it today and the T600 communicated with my MJ270R @ 1.7 km range. I don't expect both radios to go far in a heavy urban setting and I will test the radios range next summer and if possible drop it in the lake and see how it goes. Flashlight is bright and operation is easy.

Using it at my cottage to stay connected while walking , boating or fishing !! Never lost the signal and the lake is 12 km long !!

My wife saw these and thought they would be perfect for use at our camp to help with shuttle after paddling the river. They advertise these radios are good for 56kms but after driving 1.5km from the camp on a flat road they stop working! Unfortunately it’s over the 30 day return as it was a Christmas gift. These radios are wrongly advertised on Best Buy and leave out that they’re really only good for a few kms max, not the advertised 56. Once again it’s another purchase done wrong by Best Buy.

I live an area where there are many buildings and I have used them from being inside a grocery store to my home which is about two miles away. So convenient than using the cell phone. Also have used while having to follow each other in a car. So many uses for these electronic gadgets. So many people tell us that is awesome how we use them. It is not just for the outdoors. The only problem was that the charge port quit working so I called Motorola. It has a two year warranty and plan to replace it. You can not go wrong with these awesome walkie-talkies.

The supplier says the range is 56 KM. Not sure where they get this number. We were lucky to get one kilometer.
