- Complete junk- May 1, 2021
I actually have a basis for comparison in this case. I upgraded to these from an AV1000 kit from a generic Chinese vendor. I paid about 40 bucks for the old kit from Amazon(they don’t sell it anymore). These were replacements so I plugged them into the exact same outlets that the old ones were in. Find a plug showed green(ideal conditions). The old kit got me between 80 and 90 mbps all day and night with less than a 1 ms ping to the router. These things gave me between 1 and 10 mbps with very brief spikes to almost where it should be...then slow again. Pings spike to over 500 ms. Hopefully I can return these. I am very disappointed in Netgear. No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
- Slowed-down my network!- September 12, 2020
First off, I've owned the previous model, the PLP1200, for over 3 years, and they've performed superbly, at the full rated speed without issue! Wanting to extend my network, I purchased a pair of PLP2000's. Easy enough to install and implement, but ... they performed at less than half the rated throughput of their predecessor. I spent 3 to 4 hours today attempting to tweak the throughput to no avail (I'd like to point out that I am a "computer networking professional" with a degree and over 40 years in the industry - so I ran thru all the appropriate tests). Needless-to-say, I am returning these, and will be purchasing the tried-and-true PLP1200.No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
- Speedy and convenient- November 13, 2020
I purchased this pair of Powerline 2000 to replace an identical unit that stopped working after about 2 years. If not for that failure I'd rate these 5 stars. The bandwidth and performance is outstanding. I have one of these plugged into my router (which is right next to my cable modem) and another plugged into the wall in my home office. My internet speeds on my office computers indicate that these are not a limiting factor in my data rates. The convenience factor cannot be overstated. Just be sure to plug them into outlets that are on the same leg of the AC so that you're not trying to run the signal out through the electric utility's transformer.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
