SmartTV
- March 6, 2021[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I loved NVIDA Shield with IPTV Tivimate app for TV live. Very easy use and great feature. The cost is very expensive but worth. I got rid of TV cable because it crazily killed my money 150 monthly; it will be increased per monthly an annual without contract.

It doesn’t get better than this!
- November 16, 2019[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Firstly, I have the Nvidia Shield TV 2017 version and absolutely love it. I’m not much of a gamer and use it primarily for daily streaming apps, Plex and Third Party apps. It was frustrating that Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos were unavailable on streaming apps. I now feel that Nvidia Shield has delivered the perfect all in one streaming device for me. AI upscaling works really well on non 4K content (especially on YouTube and Netflix content), Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, Tegra X1+ chip (definitely improves the speed of the device), SD slot for expandable storage. Just like any tech, there’s always room for a little improvement. This is what’s still lacking, but really is so insignificant to me right now... •Doesn’t do HDR for YouTube •No HDR10+ •No Wi-Fi 6 •No HDMI 2.1 One more thing for those that buy this device for third party apps. You will notice that the app “Downloader” is no longer in the google play store. No worries...just download “Puffin Browser”. Search for www.google.com in the “Search or type URL”. Once that opens up, just search for Downloader and download from there. I saw another reviewer who said Puffin didn’t work, but he or she is wrong because it worked perfectly for me getting Downloader.

Best Android Box ever!
- February 9, 2020I had an old Android box (the Chinese ones all over Amazon etc.). I was always disappointed with its performance. It was slow at everything, even when new. I had read about the Shield TV being a much superior product and it is. It has the same storage as my old Chinese box, half the RAM and is many times faster at every task. Even its network performance is 4 to 6 times the speed of my old unit. Being a licensed product, I expect Nvidia will send out updates as well to the operating system etc. Yes, it was more expensive, but well worth it in my opinion. The Shield is so fast and stable that I really wish I had purchased it sooner.

Excellent choice for streaming shows and games
- December 31, 2022[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have had other streaming devices for years. After months of our Roku having issues, my tech-savvy son recommended we go with the Shield. I'm still getting used to the slight differences in the interface and the remote, but so far it is working up to expectations. Everything is an Android app and is tied to a designated Google Play account. You can customize the home screen, too. One feature we have enjoyed on the home screen is that the Netflix line shows a combination of the most recently watched series and shows they think you'd like. Clicking on the actual show opens up Netflix at the next episode, saving you a few clicks. The teen and young adults in the house have also used it to play games from their computers on the big screen. I suspect this is part of what they wanted.

Speedy and Pure Android TV. No Parental Controls
- December 31, 2019[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The nVidia Shield TV has great specs, including built-in gigabit Ethernet, speedy processor and expandable storage. Also, the pure Android TV experience is nice. I have to say, it was not worth the money over the Fire TV that I was coming from. It does not do some of the things that the Fire TV does, that I really missed, like maintaining the last few apps that you’ve opened and parental controls. In fact, I ended up returning the device due to the lack of parental controls, which the Fire TV does well. If you are a gamer, do not have tween or teen kids and love pure Android TV, which performance to boot, you will love the nVidia Shield TV.

Powerful Streaming as good as the Pro
- April 20, 2023All you have to do is plug in the product and install the update right away This should go smoothly but hung in the final screen of the update. I had to unplug the device to finish that off. The product is operating as well as the Nvidia Sheild TV Pro, which I have 2 of. If you don't game on these devices you won't need the Pro version. Setup is pretty easy and most apps are already pre-installed. I have to give a shout out to Best Buy here as well, they have the absolute best shipping of any shopping services I use, even that big one everyone uses. I admit the price could be a bit lower but it is the best streaming device out there.

Best Streaming Media Player
- February 6, 2021[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a smart tv, but the built in apps are all garbage. Tried other more expensive streaming devices but couldn't get used to the weird overly simplified remote. Nvidia has a great track record of supporting their devices, and this has been no exception so far. This does a great job of letting me switch between the different services I use while staying out of the way. The interface is simple to use, and there are no ads, which is a big one for me. The AI upscaling is mostly useless, it either isn't supported on most of the media I watch, or isn't noticeably better unless doing A/B comparisons. Sometimes it's significantly worse than the original.

Powerful streamer, but Android TV is only so so
- July 2, 2022[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall, this is the streamer to get. It pretty much plays anything smoothly you throw at it. The remote is great. The added find my remote feature turned out to be very useful. The thing I don't like is Android TV. It is too clunky and doesn't allow installing apps easily. Android TV apps library is very limites. i can find a lot more useful apps on Fire TV than on the official apps store in Nvidia shield. So i would need to side load apps on the shield. You can still make it work but just not as convenient. Considering the price and the inconvenience in using it, I would not recommend it. It is still a solid streamer .
