Great Results - Affordable long zoom - Stabilized

    Reviewed by - February 8, 2026

The LUMIX G Series 100-300mm F4.0-5.6 Lens H-FSA100300 stands out as a long zoom lens offering impressive results at a reasonable price. As my first Lumix zoom lens, it played a significant role while I was deciding on my gear for an upcoming safari. Throughout all my testing, the lens performed admirably. One of its main advantages is its lightweight design, weighing only 520g (~ 1lb), making it easy to handle and carry during extended shooting sessions. When paired with my Micro Four Thirds (MFT) camera body from another manufacturer, the images produced were clear and crisp. In my zoo “test-run” I was shocked at how well it captured images even maxed out at 300mm. The built-in image stabilization worked great. I don’t have the steadiest hands. Ultimately, I chose to sell the H-FSA100300 in favor of the Panasonic 100-400mm lens. However, this decision was driven by my desire for greater reach and not due to any shortcomings of the 100-300mm lens. In retrospect, I realize that keeping the H-FSA100300 might have been the better choice, for me, as it is much lighter and the wildlife was closer than I had anticipated on my safari. I think I was overly influenced by advice from others, suggesting that the longest lens was essential for a safari. If I had kept the lens, for example I would not have to worry about the weight of the lens on my camera mount, and I think the lighter weight would have meant I could have held it more steady at full range. Looking back, I would consider purchasing the H-FSA100300 again (considering also the price difference to the 100-400). I recommend this lens for its overall performance and value, especially for those seeking a lightweight, long zoom option that delivers great results.

    Exceeded my expectations

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was a bit apprehensive before I took the plunge and bought the 100-300mm. I am glad I went ahead and purchased. For a lense with this range the rice is very reasonable. The image stabilisation with both lense and body working together enables good hand held telephoto images. See my images.

Great Telephoto Lens for the Price

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - May 25, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For the price, this is the best Micro 4/3 telephoto lens on the market especially if you plan on taking photos during the day. Pictures in low light can be more challenging but I intend to use this lens mainly for wildlife during the day. However, you will be able to take some decent pictures of the moon as long as you accept that you will lose some sharpness at full zoom.

    Versatile range at a cost

    Reviewed by - August 10, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this lens while travelling in Yellowstone National Park. Loads of opportunities to shoot animals from small birds to bison and bears. I got a range of really memorable images but had to be very careful with shutter speed and iso choices (small maximum aperture). The lens is a bit soft at long range (expected at the price) but it's actually really good when used for closer shots to get high magnification (think birds within 10m). Highly recommended for a cheaper option when you need long telephoto zoom!

    Great value

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - July 25, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an amazing lens for what it is and at its price point and highlights the benefits of micro four thirds cameras. Light and compact for a super zoom. I am using it on the G85 and GX85 and the hybrid stabilizations works great on both. I was reliably able to track aircraft and birds without zooming in and out too much which is a testament to the OIS and IBIS combo. The lens is not premium sharp, but is great for the price, so unless you are a devoted pixel peeper you should be good. Contrast is better than expected and color is great with my bodies so I cant complain. Build is good, sealing is good, no zoom creep, and feels solid. All in all I thought I would be getting a good-enough super telephoto for basic birding, airshows etc. but wound up feeling it is much better than it should be for the price.

Terrific Value At This Price Point

    Reviewed by - June 22, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great value lens and it comes at a really reasonable price. While it would be nice to have the 100-400mm it is 3 times the price. I use it mostly for wildlife photography and on a micro four thirds system it gives 600mm or reach. Easy to use good autofocus or manual focus if you prefer. Fantastic image stabilization especially when paired with in camera stabilization.

An excellent telephoto lens for my Lumix GH5

    Reviewed by - August 1, 2024

I bought this lens before going on a safari in the Serengeti. It proved to be an excellent purchase. Perfect for taking zoomed photographs on safari. It is also reasonably compact and not too heavy. The value for money is also good, so I highly recommend this lens.

    Sharp with great OIS.

    Reviewed by - April 17, 2025

I rented this lens for an African Safari trip in place of my 45-200. The photos were excellent. The lens is sharp and the "Mega OIS" performed admirally. I was priding myself for my steady hand until I accidently bumped the OIS off.
