Passofundo [Audio CD] Lithium Project

Although originally scheduled for release on the respected Clear imprint at the tail end of the 90s, the Lithium's debut Passo Fundo was a casualty of war--failing to make the shelves with the label folding shortly after the pair signed up. After taking a year out from music, Farrall and Clarke eventually landed a deal with Doug Hart's respected South London imprint with this mini-LP acting as precursor to more recent material. The longevity of the six tracks contained within Passo Fundo is nothing if not testament to their quality. While the tumbling percussion and complex key work of the title enriched by the Good Looking atmospherics of "Earthly Egos", the techno infusion of "Moments In Neon" eventually spills out into the meandering fusion of "Resurgan". An album that rises head and shoulders above the swathes of less ambitious drum and bass currently occupying the record shops of the nation. --Kingsley Marshall
