    Defective USB

    Reviewed by Max - February 8, 2020

Very disappointed. I bought this USB drive yesterday. It worked fine on the first file transfer. When I moved 1Gb today, I have noticed that speed on transfer drops down to zero. I have tried to load it with movies and as I expected, it loads very slow and almost impossible to play movies. I have tried optimizing it, reformating it, changing to NTFS but nothing works. Its just not working. It's my mistake I discarded the packaging on my way home and I think the return policy states to keep the original policy. Philips should test their products before selling them for public and may sure they are functional.

Stopped working after a few weeks

    Reviewed by Dave - June 19, 2020

The USB drive was working fine for a few weeks and then suddenly my Macbook said it couldn't find the drive. I unplugged it, plugged it back in, no luck. Tried it on another Mac computer, still didn't recognize it. I then went through all the troubleshooting steps I could find online (I have a degree in Computer Science so I'm fairly technical) and still couldn't get any device to recognize it. Basically it's completely dead. I would suggest sticking with a more reliable brand. Also, make 100% sure you're backing up your USB flash drive the same way you back up your hard drive....depending on your back up solution, it might not automatically back up these external drives so you might need to add/enable it.

    The reviews don't lie

    Reviewed by Tony - April 18, 2020

i read the reviews, some said it just didn't work, i thought, how bad can it be? I just need it for music in my car so i got this item nonetheless. Was i ever wrong. I got the item, plugged it into my computer, first thing i noticed was the transfer speed fluctuated up and down and wasn't very stable, exactly what some of the reviews said. Eventually, i got the music onto the USB and plugged it into my car. The music played for 10 mins, then started to stutter and i couldn't select the files. After unplugging it a few times, it froze my car's system. I gave up, and went to check on my computer, and what now the computer doesn't even detect the USB, it's dead. The USB thumb drive was in use for less than 10 mins and it died!! Don't buy this item!!!!!

    Worst USB Drive I've Purchased

    Reviewed by GrizzleyDogBiz - March 23, 2020

After a few uses the USB drive randomly ejects from my mac when transferring files. I bought this on sale and threw away the packaging thinking a cheap USB drive like this won't be fast but it will be at least good for basic use. However, this thing is garbage and a waste of money. I've tried reformatting to exFat, NTSF, etc. with no luck.

    A solid USB drive

    Reviewed by Mr. G - February 14, 2020

While this may not be the fastest flash drive you will ever own, it certainly isn't the slowest either. So far, it seems reliable, and it is fairly compact in size. If this drive comes on sale again, I think I will purchase another one as a spare, or to loan out if needed.

    Available Space is 10GB less!

    Reviewed by Bold_Sue - December 3, 2021

I just bought this before checking the bad reviews. The total available space is 147.5GB. The missing 10GB must be used for formatting and hidden files. Since I can buy a 10GB flash drive this Philips 256GB product is using way too much space for its own use while making the customer pay for it. I will keep my packaging and receipt in case it does not perform on speed and continual reuse for music and movies as other purchasers have warned.
