What customers are saying

The lens offers excellent image quality, fast and accurate autofocus, and an impressive zoom range. Users praise its sharpness, even at the maximum focal length, and the effective optical stabilization that enables handheld shooting. The internal zoom design is appreciated for its compact and balanced handling, although the lens is on the heavier side. The fast autofocus and ability to capture distant subjects make this a great choice for nature, sports, and aviation photography, delivering professional-level results at a more affordable price point.

    Excellent Lens! Shockingly Good!

    Reviewed by - December 31, 2019

I went back and forth about buying this lens- I already I own the 100-400GM, 70-200GM as well as the 1.4X and 2X teleconverters. However, on a recent trip to Sri Lanka it quickly became my go to lens for wildlife and birding. Even with the 1.4X converter under heavy canopy it still performed incredibly well. While the speed of the 600mm F4 GM would have been nice, flexibility as animals moved closer would have been comprised. I found the build quality to be great and the lens itself light compared to other lenses I've owned. Bokeh is great! Autofocus with the A7Riv was unbelivelably fast and devivered razor sharp images- even shooting handlheld at 600mm!!

Affordable SONY Long distance professional lens

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - December 30, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Awesome lens. I got to using it immediately. I have it paired with a Sony Alpha 7RV and was able to capture some incredible shots on first 2 times out with the lens. Used it on some moon shots right out of the box - pretty good considering my amatuer status. Got to shoot some surfers in Cabo which came out better than I could have imagined. I used a 2x converter with some of the shots and there was absolutely no degradation of the clarity and sharpness of the images. The speed of the auto focus (using the right camera) is incredible - easily fired 10 frames per second.

    Very Nice

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - March 15, 2022

I bought this about a month ago and have been eager for the warmer weather to break, so that I can really get out and use it. I’ve taken some photos with it and I must say that I am pleased with its performance. The two places that I’ve recently visited are a metro park and a rodeo show. At both places, the lens did very well in my opinion. Now, the lens does have some weight to it and can become very strenuous for some after carrying it for an extended period of time.

Changed camera systems due to this lens it's fanta

I have only had this lens for a couple of weeks but since attaching it to my also new Sony A7iv it hasn't come off. I have had so many sharp keeper images from this lens and camera combination. Focus is quick, images are sharp and it's half the weight of my previous camera and lens combination. I love this lens so much I have now moved over to owning just a Sony system.

Sony hit a home run with this lens.

Every since I changed over from my a-mount cameras to e-mount this is the lens that I have been waiting for. It has very fast AF and great sharpness. I am a wildlife photographer and this lens fits right in with my FE 100-400GM. I am using the 200-600G on my A9 and this is a killer combination. I will highly recommend this lens.

All things considered not a bad lens.

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - January 24, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This review is purely my opinion only. Overall pretty good lens. Considering the price not a great value and that it is not made in Japan, hence minus one star. Should Sigma release a DG DN version it will no doubt it will cost about half the Sony G lens and match the G lens performance. Until then, the Sony G lens will have to suffice. While it does surpass the Sigma 150-600 C lens, with a MC-11 adapter, in nearly all regards expect price, I suspect the untrained eye will not be able to tell the final images apart. To match my shooting style, I mated a NISI Ti UV filter and installed a Wimberley foot. Hand holding is not a problem as the lens optical stabilization and Sony (7iii) camera IBIS work fine together. Be aware the lens is longer compared to the Sigma lens and may require you to purchase a larger capacity photo bag or backpack like that made by ThinkTank which could set you back a couple of hundred. I tossed in some snapshots just for fun.

    Fantastic Lens for Sony A7rIV

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - February 25, 2022

I bought this lens in November of 2020 and its the best purchase I have made in a long time. I use it mainly for Bird Phototography. The beautiful Bokehs I get are second to none. The clarity of the feathers are incredible. My Birds in Flight shots are also very clear and it works great with Sony A7rIV.

Sony 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 Lens Great Photograhy Tool

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - April 7, 2022

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Sony 200-600mm is my first longer lens purchase. I researched several lenses and decided on this Sony product. Technical and user reviews guided me to the Sony. And, the price was within my budget. I am a nature photography enthusiast and certainly not a professional, but this lens meets my needs and then some. As with any new lens, there's a learning curve - but, for me, that's part of the enjoyment. This lens is heavier than any other you may use. It's possible to shoot free-hand, but after a relatively short time, your arms will fatigue and, for close-up shots, holding the camera/lens still enough can be a real challenge. I use a monopod for stability which works great and is much more portable than a tripod. Check the specifications for the lens and your camera (info available on Sony's website), but my understanding is this lens is compatible with Sony alpha series cameras: I currently use it with a Sony a6000 (I don't use a teleconverter). I really like this lens and look forward to capturing some great images.
