What customers are saying

This wide-angle prime lens delivers exceptional image quality, sharpness, and versatility across a range of photography and videography applications. Key strengths include impressive low-light performance, fast and accurate autofocus, and a compact, well-built design. While minor issues like vignetting at the widest aperture are occasionally noted, the lens is widely praised as an outstanding value that provides "G Master" level quality at a more affordable price point.

The Sony FE20mm 1.8 G lens is a superb companion for many occasions, I use it mainly for Travel, Landscape and Astro Photography. Light as a feather, with superb construction quality, and extremely sharp even at maximum wide aperture is a must-have for any photography hobbyist, enthusiast and professional.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this lens and still playing with the lens and learning about the lens. I definitely recommend this lens for someone needing an ultra wide angle lens. There are few photos of the Christmas tree at the local mall added to the review.

    20mm G or 24mm G Master

    Verified BuyerReviewed by - November 10, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was my decision. I wanted a lens just for Astro photography. After watching countless YouTube videos, I decided the extra 4 mm was more important than the 1.4 aperture. The price also helped with this. The lens feels solid and well made. I had another 20mm with f2.8 and it just wasn’t letting enough light in do get the Milky Way acceptable for my taste. I’m really happy with the results and purchase. I’d love to show you some results but the Best Buy app isn’t letting me upload my pictures, maybe the files are too large. I shoot with A7iii come on Best Buy, I’m not reducing the quality on pictures when that’s part of the selling point.

This lens is pretty much a G master. It’s not just super sharp with low distortion, it portrays the essence of the subject so well. It really brings the scene to life.

    Another WINNER!

I've been shooting the 24mm F1.4 GM for few months and extremely impressed with the results this lens produces. however, I would prefer wider prime native lens, hence, the new 20mm F1.8 G. I bought this newly released 20mm F1.8 with the hopes that it will be my go to everyday lens; I have a feeling that it will be. This is by no means a full review but I wanted to see how it performs in close up situations so I snapped couple shots in my backyard; it certainly holds up to the hype. I'll be taking it out in the next couple of days to do some landscapes testing at Joshua Tree National Park (day & Astro tests). I have to say that Sony did it again, they delivered a "Tiny-but-Mighty" master piece with small size, light weight, silent autofocus, aperture ring, and super sharp just to mention few great features. Yes, it is expensive but worth every penny for me as I can travel much lighter going forward. Technical values for both shots taken with A7R-IV in RAW straight out of camera. The only thing I did is square crop them both then export from LR as small JPGs : The Rose: F/1.8 1/500 ISO 125 The Watch: F/5.6 1/100 ISO 125
